When you look back on the years that you spent in school, was there one specific teacher that really made an impact on your life and an impact on the adult that you have become?
For me there was, she was my first grade teacher, Ms. Mitchell. Ms. Mitchell was a wonderful teacher in that she helped me to develop confidence that I had never had before she was my teacher. She was the one that was able to see that I was dyslexic and got me help for that so that I developed a love of reading that is with me even today. In addition to that, she really cared about each and every one of her students as if they were her own children. She really is a phenomenal woman.
How about you, did you have a teacher like this. Would you care to share about this wonderful person and the lasting impact that they made on your life?

At some point in your life I'm sure you will encounter someone regardless of whether or not they are a traditional teacher that will make a huge impact on your life.

My teacher was Sra. Sherman, my high school Spanish teacher. She was a great teacher, who was witty, sarcastic, and caring, all in one. There were times I wanted to attend something, outside of school, such as a trip with my church youth group. She quoted Mark Twain and said, "Never let school stand in the way of your education."
To this day, I am not sure exactly how she meant it. However, I took that to mean that formalized education was not the only way to learn. Life experiences and those outside of the classroom could teach you a lot, as well. I am reminded of that lesson, even today, as I am pursuing doctoral studies.

That really is an amazing quote. I know for my children now, I am trying to give them just as many (if not more) educational opportunities outside the classroom as opportunities that they have in the classroom. The world really is a classroom in my opinion.

oh, there is one teacher i will never ever forget. i remember as mrs. arzaga. i dont even know if it is the correct spelling. :-) but she was my english teacher in third grade. she was very bright and very soft spoken. i do not remember raising her voice but i know it when she is angry. she was a good teacher and i really wished that someday i can learn what happened to her after leaving for america.

I wouldn't have known what had become of Ms. Mitchell but my mother recently ran into her at Chick Fil A when she went there on her lunch break from work. It was amazing to me that she still remembered myself and my brother all these years later.

Yes there was a teacher who helped me a lot during my high school days. All I can say is that, he was a wonderful and kind teacher, although he's strict. I remember that year, I had to take a major exam at the end of the year. I had a very weak subject---Principles of Accounting(POA). He was my form teacher and he offered to provide help for students who were weak in POA. Of course, I went to look for him and he kindly taught me, tutored me. I was really grateful for that. During the holidays, he made himself available for students to find him. What made me happy was that he knew I was weak in POA, he asked me if I needed any help and so I said yes. He told me to look for him during the holidays. I'll always remember this teacher forever, although he is no longer teaching in the high school I used to be, as he has transferred to another school as it was near his house. During teachers' day every year, I'll make an effort to send him a message wishing him a Happy Teachers's Day. He was one teacher who really made an impact on my life. I feel really honored that I was once his student.

It really does sound like this teacher was one of a kind and I think that it is great that you try to make contact with him at least once a year.

It is very nice that you've been able to continue to have a relationship with the teacher that has been the most special in your life.

My fifth grade instructor, Ms. Kilmer, she was amazing. Test scores at our elementary school were high because of her. I was in Glee Club and she got me to want to work hard for everything. She was just awesome. I had trouble with reading, and she helped with comprehension, and before I knew it, I was doing better on the reading part. She was so cool.

I think that the fact that she was willing to help you in the areas where you had difficulty really is a big part of the reason that she stands out in your mind as she does.

for me it was my first grade teacher. her name was Sarah and she was the most caring teacher. i was the youngest in class and sickly but i never felt left out or intimated by the other older students. she just had a way with children and she was always there for all her students.
