Do you use detergent or dishwashing soap?

I noticed that all people in our place here almost used the detergent soap in washing their dishes. I ask them why they used the detergent soap instead of the dishwashing liquid? They said it is quite cheaper and they used the leftover soap after they wash their clothes. don't you think it's good?
How about you? which soap do you used in washing the plate?

i've never heard of anyone using soap to wash dishes before,i suppose it would work in the same way as washing up liquid,but that's really strange,i have a dishwasher now but before i did i always used washing up liquid
