Remember back to the 2008 Presidential campaign for just a minute shall we. Remember how certain people including myself made a big deal over a certain pastor than Obama listen to for 20 years. Please don't tell me that you don't remember those days. Yet now for some Obama is secretly a Muslim, oh the inhumanity. So let me get this straight, Obama went to a Christian church for 20 years and still attends services at Christian churches well all this time is a Muslim? To my knowledge Obama has never been photoed in a Mosque during religious services, maybe I am wrong and I will be correct if someone can show me that photo.

Okay can someone please prove to me that Obama was a Muslim because as far as I could see, I have never seen him go to a Mosque or attend any Muslim ceremonies, so where are people getting this information from that he is a Muslim?

Hi Gewcew,
I'm not a big Obama fan but some of these people make putting down Obama a career. They overdo it to the point where even if they had a legitimate complaint...who is going to listen? They have lost all their credibility.

He spent a lot of time in Kenya as a child, so he certainly got his fill of Islam while was there. In Chicago he was part of the Black Liberation Theology church which does not resemble anything Christian to me. He just attended a church the other week for the FIRST TIME. Whether he goes every Sunday is a good guess. It doesn't matter if he goes to church or not. It is what he really believes that counts. I won't write a book, but I have read enough to say that after attending the BLT church all those years he knew what it was, and that is who he is. He only left because he thought it would hurt his chances of becoming President. He is the same person he was then. Don't expect to get picture of him praying in a mosque. For the most part, it is not something that is done. Sometimes a professional photographer will be permitted to do that for a magazine at a distance, but generally, no.

The more you know about Islam, the more you can see the telltale signs that it is a possibility that he is Muslim/Black liberation advocate. My husband is Muslim. I see similarities. Traditionally, Muslims do not celebrate their birthdays. The Obama family does not from what I have read. They did away with the Easter Egg Hunt at the White House. However, they had a celebration for Muslims. I could go on...and on.

Well, part of the confusion may result from the fact that Rev. Wright himself is a former Muslim and Black Nationalist. It might also fuel the rumors if one were aware that Wright's church doesn't require baptism or a conversion from Islam, so one can be a member and be a Muslim.
I don't think that attending that particular church is proof of anything other than a high tolerance for Rev' Wright's particular brand of politics and racism.

Certainly, Obama would have some knowledge of Islam as practiced in Islamic countries from his time spent in Indonesia as a child. But Black Nationalism, the Nation of Islam (Farrakhan) and Rev Wright's church are less about traditional Islam than they are about Marxism, Black Liberation Theology and socialism. If you've any questions about the teachings of Wright, you can go to youtube and watch an interesting video of him praising the Monthly Review for their "no nonsense" proclamation of marxism. I don't know if Obama has Muslim leanings but no, he's not a practicing Muslim. As someone who is pretty knowledgeable about the tenets of Christianity, I would say Obama is not a Christian either. I think he simply attended a church that held views to his liking.

I personally don't believe Obama is either Muslim or Christian, but I have no evidence. I suppose the reason some believe him to be a Muslim is because his father was and maybe his stepfather(?). They may also believe him to be a Muslim because he yields to the Muslims while insisting the Christians hide their Christianity. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he request that all references to Christ at Georgetown University, a Catholic institution, be hidden when he visited so the Muslims wouldn't be offended? During his first Christmas in the White House, didn't he have to be persuaded to put up Christmas decorations? During the day of prayer, wasn't Franklin Graham, a Christian, denied access to the prayer session at the Pentagon while the Muslims were welcomed? Obama may say the words, "I'm a Christian;" but I bet if you asked him who the Lord of his life is, he would shirk the question.

It's because people are dumb and want to believe what they want to believe no matter how stupid it is.

From what I understand about Obama's past, he probably just knows a lot more about Islam than the average non-Muslim American. However, for all I know, I could also be way off base.
Someone did mention about political gain, & that sort of makes sense to me. It also seems to me that he might just very well be using his theological knowledge to his political advantage.

Those who don't remember are likely suffering from "Obamamnesia", a mysterious new illness that is popping up all over these days. While it can affect both the most ardent supporters of President Obama and the deepest detractors, it seems to be more serious for the latter. The views of perfectly healthy people that either support or do not support the President and/or his positions shouldn't be mistaken for symptoms of this potentially debilitating disease...lol!
As far as I know you're absolutely correct because I've also never seen any pictures of Obama in a Mosque attending services. I remember during the campaign when the Reverend Wright story broke how there were some people even then who were, at the very same time, complaining about his attendance of Wright's church for over 20 years and accusing him of being a secret Muslim. I guess it should be no surprise that some of these people have now forgotten all about the Christian church. I've said all along, well before I'd ever even heard of Barack Obama, politicians should have the right to privacy when it comes to their personal religious practices or beliefs unless or until it affects their job performance. I don't know why some people think it's necessary for a President or potential President to be seen attending church or for him or her to speak publicly about his or her faith. Some of us are more private when it comes to these things.
