for me and my family it was the fact that my husband was never home...he was in Iraq and always TDY for one reason or another...He was a cop and now he is just reserve for the next 2yrs...but the risk factor of him leaving is much lower then it was with his active status...any wives care to share???

The hardest thing about being a military wife, for me, was recently having to give up my career while we are stationed in Italy, I can't work in the hospital in my normal profession. It's the personal sacrifices and putting my career on hold, that makes things a bit hard. I'm a worker, a career woman by nature and need. So, when you strip that away from me, I feel less whole. I can deal with TDYs and deployments, I've been through them so many times that I know what coping mechanisms to trigger on to get me through.

I think for me it is the fact that he will be gone for almost a year and that I don't no how many times he will be gone over a period of years. I think the seconds hardest part is moving to a new place and trying to blend in with other people who are already friends, or having to live outside of base and still manage to make friends when you aren't near base activities.
