Really and it didn't even make it to 80!
Now, I hope you guys were keeping south Texas and northern Mexico in your prayers, but Austin is just getting some lovely, and much needed rain.
I got up early to be at work for a computer geek to come look at Maggie's computers, and when I got off work, all I could do was drag my tired butt into the house and into bed. That is what rain does to me, makes me tired, and even more tired because I had to get up early!
And was I in for the day? no such luck, but at least on the way home, the roommate offered to buy me something for dinner.
Here we are, 7 p.m., its still raining, its dark and while I got a 2 hr nap, I'm still thinking bed sounds good.
The ONLY problem with going back to bed is that I KNOW I'll wake up in the middle of the night if I did so... So, I'll try to stay awake a while longer...
What do you like to do on a rainy day?

Oh I'm so pleased you've finally got some rain! Carlisle was lucky today because it was forecast but we didn't get the downpour that was predicted..for a change!
I heard rain during the night but it never prevents me from sleeping. I like the sound of rain, it doesn't bother me.
If it rains during the day I don't tend to go out in it unless it's absolutely necessary. It's not that I'm soft or anything, I just hate dodging people with my brolly (should be other way round) lol. I'd love a coat with a hood which would mean I could dispense with the brolly altogether.

Just got off the phone with our son who lives in Austin, and he confirmed that you have received much rain there and are still receiving more. I went to bible class this morning but spent most of the afternoon in my platform rocker with the cat on my lap and watched old episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. I could hear the rain on the metal carport through the windows behind me. A nap would have come easy, but like you, i knew it would have ruined tonight's sleep. That's like a kid who wants a cookie a few minutes before the meal. Mama always says "No, it'll ruin your supper."

I live in California, and it looks like it is going to rain right now, but it is not actually raining, it just looks like it is going to rain. My friends and I call it a "fake out" because it's clouds taunting you. You keep thinking that it will rain, and then it doesn't.
Usually on a rainy day, I just stay inside, study, spend time on the computer, read, and watch some television.

I'm happy we had that rain, our variable level lakes are now BOTH full for the first time in years! Just takes a GOOD wet winter and a normal, not BLAZING hot summer and we are caught up after several years of dropping!
Now we've had a few more storms, but nothing like the hurricane coming 'round.

hi again my six sentences just flew the coop. start over. what is rain oh that stuff with nice wet drops that falls out of thesky everywhere e3se but not here in Southern California. We have had no rain for a whole year. everthing is tinder dry and the fire hazard is wayu p there so aqll we need are some stupid arsonists to start a little fire that will end up; covering zillions of acres and burning people out of their homes. this is so sick but they keep doing it too. I love to curl up; with a good book on a rainy day or get on the net and goof off but the book sounds good too.

Elic: That wouldn't happen to be another in that excruciatingly funny series about that New Jersey girl bounty hunter, would it? Or another of that same author's romances? And what that woman can do when she writes about dogs is seriously gut-bustingly hilarious! (Warning: When read while drinking a beverage risks one's spewing said beverage across the room. This is especially painful if the beverage is carbonated!)

It's raining as I type! Yaaaay!
What do I like to do when it rains? Well, I used to love playing out in the rain, but that's hard to do with a walker...
So you KNOW me; it's "grabacat" weather! Minnie's not a really cuddly kitty, though, so it's the same thing I do on dry days: snack, read, & sleeeeeeep!! I listen to the rain on the metal car-cover outside, & it's almost as though I'm a kid again, curled up under a snuggley, home-made quilt on Grandma's old overstuffed, blue mohair sofa, reading a good book, listening to the deafening sound of the rain drumming on her tin roof, & nodding off.
You know that sound, too, from our church, which has a tin roof. It was so hard to hear the priest's wonderful sermons, & worse, trying to stay awake when I am soooo programmed to nap when I hear that hypnotic sound! At least it covered up our little amateur choir's worst sins...LOL!
Hmmm...I don't s'pose you could lend me one of your cuddlebums...? :o)

I am usually inside on my computer or curled up with a great book. I love to hear the rain on our tin roof, it makes me feel cosy and content. We have not had as much rain as we need here this winter, it was raining yesterday but today the sun is out again…

We kind of have to wait on the off chance of a tropical storm/hurricane or heat produced pop up thundershowers in the summer, and while we had a few of the latter, and some rain from the surprise hurricane Alex this was a nice break from the heat of August.

I like to nap on rainy days too! I get very drowsey if I slow down enough to listen at the rain for a few minutes. I was wondering if my new metal roof would make the rain louder but I can't tell at all. Probably a good thing since I might sleep right through my alarm clock..lol.

Rains used to be my favorite season during my better days. I would just go out on my bike and drive for a few miles till I am really dripping drenched. Then I would have a smoke (I used to smoke quite a lot but have quit that habit for over 10 years now). Then I would return back home and ask mom to make me some potato fries - she has still some great ingredients for that. In the meantime, I would dry myself and change the clothes and then switch on the Audio System, listen to some soft music and eat those fries reading some comics. That was how I spend the rains.
Now, at 36, I am suffering from Rhematoid Arthritis and so have to stay away from the rains and dampness around. :(

I like to think about curling up in a warm bed with a good book or a movie. If I do this I invariably fall asleep. If it's cold, I will light a fire in this room otherwise I just sit here at the dining table typing away while I watch the rain through my big window. . I like to walk in the rain but it means getting wet and very muddy around the feet here.

Same as you...
Yesterday, a friend and I went to visit some of my relatives (two sets) and by the time we headed home again it was dark out. All the way home (about an hour's drive) we were treated to a lovely light show courtesy of sheet lightning. No rain or thunder, though.

Hi ya ElicBxn
It rained here quite heavily the other day. I went and picked the kids up from school and got soaked myself. What I like about that is getting home in the warm and putting on dry clothes, that is such a nice feeling. Trouble was that when I went to pick kids up from school I had to stay wet for a further couple of hours or so because of my sons activities so it was extra nice to get in and get changed and warm. I just like to bimble around the house, doing the odd job and playing on mylot when it rains.

As there's no rain these days in my town, I'll be grateful if I get rain in my place. Though, It doesn't give much effect to my activity. I still need to go out to train my students.

I like to sleep, but I like to do that no matter what the weather is.If I had a two hour nap and wanted to go back to bed, I wouldn't have to worry about sleeping the whole night. For me it seems there is no such thing as TO MUCH sleep.
In Pa. we haven't gotten much rain either. I am suprised they haven't said anything about rationing water. They have other years, and it seems we had gotten more rain than we did this year.

They put us in a burn ban last month on the very day that it actually rained!
but other than that day and this little "disturbance" we haven't had much rain since July and not a lot then... at least we started off with a surplus this year unlike the last few years...
