Your first Doctor is always your favorite, and Tom Baker was my first Doctor. Here is a rare interview (it is VERY long) with Tom Baker done by some fans. I found it soft in places but WOW! So, here it is for all "true fans" of Doctor Who. A rare interview with the 4th Doctor (and the oldest surviving Doctor I might add.) http://lifetheuniverseandcombom.blogspot.com/2010/09/doctor-who-tom-baker-rare-interview.html

That's not true. It was the 2nd doctor that I ended up liking rather then the first I saw. If I recall properly as he's been gone for a bit now, his name was "David Tennant". The one that followed him isn't nearly as good of an actor. I was quite disappointed, in fact. Anyways, I will still definitely have to read up on that :) I saw others as well but I was much too young to remember them at the time. I planned on catching up on a LOT of old Doctor Who's soon so I am sure my favorite doctor will change.

Eccelston wasn't nearly as good an actor as Tennant, but Tennant is the Tenth Doctor. I liked him a lot but I also think Matt Smith is a lot of fun. Or, to paraphrase the Brigadier - I like the Doctor, all of him.

When I said the "2nd doctor", I was referring to the 2nd doctor that I watched. Not the "2nd doctor", literally. I was basically responding to this, "Your first Doctor is always your favorite, and Tom Baker was my first Doctor." But yeah, most doctors before that I know I saw but didn't really recall how their acting was which is why I have to catch up a lot!

Tom Baker was my favorite as well! He was the first doctor I'd seen on the show as a child and one that simply set the bar for me as a viewer. However, this new re-make doctor (both) are growing on me. It was the one show though that my mom would allow me to stay up late to see every Sunday night even though it was a school night. I do like the new show, I didn't much care for Eccleston, but Tennant and Smith I quite like. I was almost 30 when they started showing it in my area, but I had caught it at a convention and was already hooked!

I'm only about halfway through the video but I'm fascinated about his commentary on religion. He's got the low-down on that for certain.

I don't do well with videos so I looked up a transcript. I don't think it's of this interview because of the clothing differences but it was interesting. There are links at the bottom for more Tom Baker goodies so I thought I'd share: http://nzdwfc.tetrap.com/archive/tsv50/tombaker.html

Thanks! I've also sent it to share with the roomie. It was very long video - like 7 parts about 15 minutes each!

Hi there ElicBxn Tom Baker was my favourite Doctor and my first too. I liked the fact he always ate jelly beans and wore a long scarf. My kids love doctor who and don't seem bothered or confused by the change of doctors!

If I had been in England Hartnell would've probably been my first as well...

I'll have to try to look at this sometime. Tom Brown was my first Doctor. This was when I spent a year (1978-79) in Ames, Iowa and did not have cable TV. Ther were only 4 channels and Dr. Who came on at 10 PM the same time as the news. I still remember the no so spcial effects of that era. That was really the only time I watched Dr. Who until the recent BBC revival. (I think I might have tried watching the Fox debachcle - is that how you spell it ? - but since I have no memory of it, it must have been bad and I'm repressing it.)

The Fox thing had possibilities, but they really didn't do a great job on it, so it went away - however, there are some good audios on Big Finish with the 8th Doctor so it was okay.
