Many people believe that the past of a person is not that important. But there are some who believe that the past of a person is very well important to be considered to have an idea of what the person is all! What is your say?

Somehow our past does make who we are today. Therefore, we can do nothing to change the past, however we do learn from our past to be a better person in future. I believe those who makes mistakes in the past but has learn from it should be forgiven for what they did and deserve a 2nd chance. For those who are not learning from mistakes... lets just forget about them and find someone else to make friends with :D

True I think that people who dont learn from their past experiences are not intelligent ones. But on second thoughts, if this was to happen, who would we justify the actions of people who invent things? They repeat the actions of their past!

Inventors like Thomas Edison did repeat the same action over and over again... however with a different element each time. Therefore they are not blindly repeating their mistake, they are doing trial and error to achieve their goals based on their ideas :p

Hi dear, Past is also as important like present. Why we are learning the history of mankind. To learn and understand they the way they lived and knowing the past is necessary to make more better of our today’s. Just if we look at our CV, the may have a track of job profile from when it started to where we are now. Also, some people used to mention from the school level itself. So, a bird’s eye view is getting at a glance. If you work for 5 companies for 10 years, and looking at the name of the companies, a knowledgeable person can make out how he is and who he can be. So, the past is important. Just for our further life for ourselves is also important. If we have a better background, the others can make out from the basic appearance and will get an approximate idea about the person. Regards, Thank-s

Yes, I also believe in this that the past is what makes our present and the future. And we can get a glimpse of what the person is all about by knowing the past. Thanks for sharing your views

It all depends on the person. It was because of my past that I am happy now. Because my past wasn't that happy , my friend helped me sort things out. and when I had finished and was ready to move on and look for someone to love , he found me! But if I had a great past , I may Still be looking. Who knows! So it depends on the person. Some are still holding on to the past. That's when the past Does matter! But with others , their past is resolved and they are free and their past does not matter.

I guess the past matters in the sense that it shaped the person in the present. But knowing the past of the person should not be the focus if you want to know the person. What matters most is how he lives his present and learns from his past.

I understand your point here. Today is more important that yesterday.

The past is very significant to ones existence, for without the past there would be no present...

Yes len, this is very true that without the past there cannot be present or future. We have to remember our past and avoid the mistakes that we have committed to become good people.

At times the past can tell us the future. How a person has lived may tell us what direction and course of life they will follow. So if we don't like the past of a person then look for someone else.

If I am not wrong, past of a person makes his present. For example, if you have been not studing in past, your present would not be as good as it could have been. One gets result of what he does today, in the future. Which is the ultimate paste and future (which will later become present) relationship. So i dont think those people are correct who believe that past is not important.

I think past has immense value in our lives. It is past from which we take lesson about our capabilities and can make out our potentiality of the future. So denying our past we cannot take a planned step towards future!
