American idol or American Got talent?

i like both shows. both are great shows. If you are into music then you go for the idol, if you want music and more then there's the "got talent". but like you, i have a small preference on idol than the "got talent" because idol is about singing and you know it's a singing competition therefore you expect the contestants to be good singers, well most of them anyway. The "got talent" on the other hand is more of a variety show that showcases all kinds of talents. But like a variety show, it focuses more on entertaining the audience in every episode. It's also very hard to predict who will come up as the winner because contestants compete against each other but showcasing totally different talents. I guess it must be harder for the got talent judges to decide because the each talents have its own points.
