Do you think that once a person reaches senior citizen age of I think its 62, they should be given a road test again, and every couple of years therefore? Should this be a new law? This discussion came up the other day, and I kind of understand what some were saying how alot of the elderly really shouldnt be driving, but then I feel bad like its discriminating. What do you think about this?

It would appear that the Senior Citizens are being discriminated against, if they were stopped from driving. In my country Jamaica, to avoid the appearance of discrimination, Senior Citizens are given a medical most importantly their eyes and ears are tested. If they are healthy and are seeing and earing well then their licences are usually renewed. My sons grandfather is 80 years old and he drives perfectly well all be it a little slow but he does well.

No, I disagree with an age related road test. But I would be first to say that there are other good reasons to stop driving, as I myself have done. My eyesight just isn't good enough anymore. With bi-focal glasses, I look like one of those nodding dogs as I adjust from near to far vision. Then, there is an annoying space somewhere between one and three meters that just doesn't come properly into focus ever!
We have to recognize our limitations and take our own action.

i think they should do something about it. it might be discriminating but if an elderly person cant remember or follow simple road procedures then its a problem. if they did make a law they would have no way to enforce it though. unless someone gets pulled over or tries to renew their license there is really no way to make sure that everyone is following it.
