Hello guys, some people said listening slow, mellow jazz music are for those older people only. I mean, it is what they said a sign of being already matured.
I strongly opposed on their conclusion because I started to love jazz music at my younger age. Most of my collections are slow jazz genre.
To name those favorite artists, I like the music of Jim Chapell, David Benoit, Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, Acoustic Alchemy, Michael Franks (vocals), Kenny Rankin(vocals), The Rippingtones and a lot more...
How about you guys, would you care to share yours?

I've always loved to listen to old and new love songs specially those that fit my own love story. Well, there are a lot of great artists who sing good love songs.
Lately, I've been listening to Second Hand Serenade, and piano instrumentals.
Good day friend.

I agree that jazz is not for older people, but not for the same reason you do--I am getting old(er) and I still cannot tolerate jazz! I love all kinds of music, from classical to folk to hard rock, and everything in between, but jazz actually causes my teeth to cringe--and the older I get, the less tolerant I am of jazz music. I respect the musicians, and the genre, and the history and development of jazz, I just can't listen to it! And the funny thing is, I was with my younger son (he is 8) in a doctor's waiting room, and they were playing jazz. I have never said anything to him about jazz one way or the other, because we never listen to it. But he said to me that he hated this music and it was giving him a headache! And yet both of my parents loved jazz. I can't really explain it, but I definitely do not think liking or disliking jazz relates to your age, but rather personal preference.

well said my friend. It was funny thing . Well, I love any music but the best for me is only jazz if I would categorized it. I just don't like to listen heavy metal, rock, any noisy music and rap..it twist my mind...but respect all kinds of music since we have different level of likeness. We have freedom to choose.

That is the wonderful thing about music--there are so many genres, and so much creativity involved in each one, that everyone can find music that "speaks" to them.

That doesn't make you mature dude. In fact I find this cool. It doesn't mean that we have to stick to songs released during our age. I think this really depends on our mood sometimes. When we want to be sentimental, we have the urge to listen to mellow songs. When we're hype, we'd love to listen to fast and danceable music. Personally, I grow up with my dad being a part of a band. Their music are Brazilian, Italian, Korean, Spanish, American, Latin and Filipino music. I thought that listening to these kinds of songs are so good that I could afford to listen to them all day.
Whenever I have the feeling to dance, I listen to R&B songs and the like. I love your choice of music. :)

You're most welcome, friend. Oh and we're also the same on that part, NOISY MUSIC. I don't know why but I don't feel like listening to it. Well, maybe if I'm depressed or something, I'll have the urge to listen to it to forget the pain for the meantime. Nevertheless, you have a good choice of music.. ;-)
Take care..

I love all kinds of music. Many times it depends on what kind of mood I'm in when it comes to music. When I need super relaxation, then classical music is best. I too like jazz. When I write, I listen to Psychedelic(Hendrix, Cream, Status Quo, Spooky Tooth), Soul(Supremes, Temtations,...), Blues(Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke,...), Classic Rock and Roll (Buddy Holley, Elvis, Beatles, Chuck Berry,...), Holiday Music, old time gospel music, Jazz, etc.

It really depends on my mood. I love any kinds or genre of music. If I am happy, I am okay of any music I want to hear. But if I am sad, I don't want to here sad or mellow music because I feel like crying. So, I listen to slow/hard rock or a happier music for a happier feel! If I am not in the mood for music, then I don't listen to music. That's the way it is. I have many different artists here in my music player. It really depends.

I don't see it that way, music is for all the people around the world, regardless the age, nation or gender.Everyone has his or her own favorite music.just do what you like.
Maybe deeply influenced by my native nature,I like music played by Chinese lute and er-hu very much.I think they are the most delicious music.

Hi mobhomeir, my parents introduced me to music at a very young age, by playing old music or should I say classic ones like Elvis Presley, Platters, Stylistics, Beatles (all time favorite), Frank Senatra, James Taylor etc. Image my parents turntable (the device with needle and big black disk) playing old songs almost every afternoon.
But I should say nothing really compares to the oldies music, it's simple but meaningful. That is why I'm more into the slow type of music. If music preference is used as basis for age, then I'll be proud to say that I'm into the slow or mellow genre, who cares about the "age issue thing" what matters is you listen to the one that suits your soul. God Bless

I love everything from classic to heavy metal, and I've done that since I was like 10 years old, which means half of my life already. Taste of music has nothing to do with being more mature or not, just what you like to listen to :)
My favorite band of all is Scorpions, they've been around for a long while. After them it's Blind Guardian that has a lot of metal songs with fantasy themed lyrics which of course the music is influenced by. Kamelot is also a really good band whom has a lot of power in their music :)

In my case, it depends on my mood. If I want to feel relax and need to sleep fast, I listen to jazz instrumental or sentimental songs. During times when I need to be alert, I prefer fast songs to awaken my nerves so to speak. Sometimes I take a chance to listen to old songs just to remember the good old days wherein the vocals of artist is awesome you know.
But my favorite music genre is jazz instrumental just like yours because it is pleasing to the ears and never goes out of trend. How I wish I could be like David Benoit, Acoustic Alchemy, Lee Ritenhour, Jim Chapell, Spyro Gyra, etc.
For me these are my choices..happy listening.
