Personally, I don't want to listen rock songs. It's a noise to my ears! However, I respect those people who love to sing and listen rock songs. But I have some concern about this... are you in favor that rock songs could be played or sung in a church?

I think it is ok to bring rock sounds to the church. I do play music for my church and I'm the first person to bring this rock sound to our church. There are 3 other groups together with our group play for our church. For them, they afraid to bering this sound because they don't want to be condemned by the congretion. Ours different. We want a variety of music genre in our song of praise and worship. That's why I introduce the rock sound and people accept it very much. People need the variety of sounds to make them interested and the service will be more lively.

Hello marcmm,
Mind you, don't forget that not only rock brings variety of sounds to make people interested and the event lively. Avoid clinging to one genre, do some research, it brings greater rewards than what you might know today is the best thing.

I didn't say rock song will brings variety of sounds. But it sure make a different. I see you post before me about Hillsong. We do play song from Hillsong and we also play songs by Paul wilbur. As I feel this is the right way to worship. GOD give us a variety of music for us to choose. It is up to us to choose which want we want to use.

As long as it is approved by GOD
As long as your desire is to glorify GOD
As long as the song gives inspiration to many people who hears it...
It is acceptable to GOD and it can be sung...
Anyway it's not you who will work in the midst of worship, if people are touch, if it cause inspiration to the worshiper.GOD is the one who is doing such...

Sir,
how is it approved by God? How do you know that something is acceptable to God? Isn't it the pastor approves the songs?

Hi...
i'm a grl but anyways,,I just wanna share something .By the grace of GOD.I'm a worship leader in our local church here..
Yes as a worker of the church we must have to take time to meet our pastor and submit to them...but not all the time we need to depend upon what the pastor would dictate you to do..sometimes you must have to spend time to talk to your GOD and ask for guidance to him..
It actually happen sometimes when the congregation worship GOD and the holy spirit take it's part( It leads ) the song choosen by we the servant of GOD change but still the flow of worship stays on tune ...
It's how GOD works...It's not Our thought but of GODS...It's not our words that we are speaking when it talks about heavenly things,,,but it's of GOD..

I have heard rock songs in church before and it is really funny when we have played rock songs in church because we got so sick of hearing "Ave Maria" and "Lord of the Dance" a million times over again. That's what I got for being Catholic! Roman Latin music and Irish music pounded into my head.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I was in three different choirs at my church, and when I got to actually sing rock music, I really rocked the church. I was always singing classical songs and when I got to sing a rock song, I was happy to sing it.

I like the style of rock in the church. A regular rock song wouldn't really be appropriate in the church. As far as style, I do like a good beat, even if you're doing the old hymns I like them jazzed up a little bit!

Hello winjayoma,
You have to first define what "rock" music means. You can't put a blanket "noise to my ears" statement like that.
If you're listening to contemporary music, you probably heard a lot of rock music styles. Rock music is not always noisy. Many people tend to associate rock or even worse, confuse it with the music some call "metal".
If you are talking about distorted sounds coming from a guitar, booming bass guitar, ear hitting drums, yes some styles are played that way.
Have you heard of Hillsong? Most of their worship or praise songs are in the "rock" format.
Of course I am not saying rock songs should or could be played in the church, whatever church that is. Every song and every syle has it's own place. And every music style has it's own degree of volume, harmony, and spiritual appeal.
What do you think?

What I am trying to say is singing a Hard Metallic song can be sung during Sunday worship? Because for me, it is just like a noise and not really a music to my ears
