What cancels out your insecurities?

I'm currently watching 'That 70's Show' and one of the characters, Jackie just said that she doesn't have any insecurities because she is wearing designer clothes. So, the question is, is there anything that would cancel your insecurities? Like preparation and knowledge of a particular subject matter makes me confident in talking about whatever subject matter it is. And so, what are your insecurities? And what do you think helps to cancel it out?

oh i've had lots of insecurities. i hated that i wasn't at all representative of what was supposedly 'beautiful', that i'm getting average grades when i thought i could do better, that i'm not rich, etc. but that was before. maybe a few weeks ago. the solution was pretty easy. i simply believed that God has this perfect image of me, that i was destined to be successful, and the key to that does not lie in those insecurities but in my capabilities and talents. i shouldn't focus on what i don't have; i probably don't have them because i wasn't meant to do anything with them in the first place. i focus on what i have and what i can do, because those are the things that will lead me to that perfect destiny created especially for me.

I agree with you that our society has made it difficult for us to feel secure in our place. We are always not beautiful enough, or not rich enough. Good for you in recognizing your talent and capabilities. And having enough faith in God to know that you're destined to be successful. May you live up to your potential!

I am insecure about my looks. However, I think that for me this is cancelled out by the fact that I have a wonderful support structure of family and friends. It is only with the great family and friends that I have that I am able to get through some of the toughest times that I have faced in my life. I know it might sound a little bit strange, but that simply is the way that it is for me and it makes me feel good to know that I have it.

Hi Dorann. I don't think it is strange, and I think you are very lucky to have that support structure behind you. I've read in some past discussions that you went through some tough times in the past, and a structure like what you have is vey enviable. Thanks for sharing.

I can tell him Anything. I can go to him with any problem and just by talking with him , I am more secure! Sentimental bullsh!t answer, right?

Thanks. Can you tell I'm new at this Lovey dovey stuff? Before I fell in love I would say " tell me when the fighting starts" when the romantic stuff happened in the movies.

There are times when 'sentimental bullsh!t' are called for. Maybe even this discussion calls for one. I've learned that about you Sarah. And one trait that I've grown to admire. You are lucky in more ways than one. Thanks.

My music help me feel secure. With that I feel alive. It gives me energy. I write new songs and feel good about them when I have finished them. And when people hear my songs and are happy, that makes me happy too.

Thank-you. I love to write songs. Last midnight I wrote a song after watching the movie Kamra Sutra. It taught me that Love is not something you can understand and it is not always fair. Love always wins. I had to write down what I had experienced in this movie, or I would not be able to sleep. hahaha! Today I will make the music to it. The words are nothing like I have ever written before. Normally I don't write love songs. But lately my style has been changing. hahaha! Have a nice day!

I've always been envious of people who could write songs or music. I consider myself emotional and music never fails to move me. I just think that it would be great to create music that could help move people. If I could, then I would never feel a little bit insecure. I would have whatever music I am working on, to back me up.

Hiya bounce, Knowing that I can trust the People I have around me that does help to a point. I think you can feel secure for a while, maybe a long while but every so often the insecurities show their Heads again. We all have loads of little insecurities that we manage to deal with in one way or the other.

I guess that's one way to deal with it. To surround yourself with people you can trust. And I think that they can also help not only with one's self-confidence, even with their morale. Thanks lovinangelsinstead21!
