Public wet market or Supermaket?

Where do you usually shop for groceries especially your vegetables and meat?
Some choose the public wet market to buy their food especially fishes and vegetables. The reason is, it is cheaper.
Some would shop on the supermarket wet section because the place is convenient even if it is a little bit priced high compared to the public wet market.
So, where do you shop?
Why do you choose that?
Is it how you like it?

I also try living in a municipality and the supermarket we love to shop in is also far and it could take not more than an hour to get there. We can only go there on weekends since all of us at home are busy on work.
There's no choice but to buy in the public wet market especially the vegetables and fish. They are surely fresh every early morning.

Hi,
I only been to wet market to buy fishes and pork. As for
vegetable and chicken, I will go supermarket as they do
sell fresh vegetables there and the chicken also pretty
fresh.
The best is I can get points on my card ,which I can use in future
to exchange for some free gift if I were to shop at supermaket.
I do my grocery shopping twice a week.
I can say that the price of vegetable in wet market is more expensive
than supermarket.
I love to go supermarket for my grocery shopping as the place is cleaner
and the space is bigger too.Feel more comfortable to walk around.

I buy my meat products in the supermarket because i am sure it is clean. I am more concerned on clean meat products since it gives you diseases when it is unsafe or unclean. We also don't know where their slaughterhouse are and we are not sure of their sanitation. The supermarket showcases some reputable brands of meat shops or poultry shops that you can be sure they are clean.
I also use a value card every time I shop in the grocery, that is why I love the supermarket too!!!

Hi! I always buy our food in a public market because its cheaper and the produce are fresh because we're so near to the sea that's why I could expect that the sea foods i will buy there are live and fresh. Here in our place, we have a market day every Wednesday, wherein the merchant from nearby town could sell different stuffs in our market. Numerous items will flood the market from linens, dresses, shoes and toys, etc. But my favorite items would be veggies and fruits that was not only cheap but fresh.
I also bought our groceries however in the supermarket especially those that i could not readily avail in the public market like imported grocery items or sometimes, processed foods too. I enjoyed buying our supplies at home and i will never ever get tired to prepare the needs of my family. Goodnight!

I love places when they have some rules on marketing. It really helps mothers like me since I am still starting my new family. I've been to places like that. That was in my grandmother's place. It is really what you called "MARKET"- a crowded noisy selling area but the goods are definitely cheap and fresh.
Mothers should be the boss of market shopping right? Men aren't just into it. Well, thank you for your response. It really helps the topic.

I'm mostly shopping in the supermarket for the things i need. My mom is the one doing wet market. I don't like wet markets as they are smelly and slippery. I have tried a couple of times along with my mom, and i'm not comfortable with it. Everything seems like a mess in there, on top of the noise whereby everybody is calling out for customers. IF i'm not shouting, i will never be noticed by the stall owners at all.
I still prefer supermarket as it's more organised, and more cooling, with the extra benefit of shopping at my own sweet time.

haha.. Let your mom do the dirty stuff, right? I just love shopping in the supermarket too. It is very convenient right? This is how you can find grocery shopping as a therapy. Do it in a mall/store and not the public wet market...

well when i was younger, back in our old house, the public wet market there was really huge and all kind of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, poultry is complete and fresh!! now, all mrt stations seem to have supermarkets and when people go to the malls, they also go to the supermarket, at least, the place is clean, air conditioned... hehe so people would prefer supermarkets now than public wet markets...

I too. I prefer to buy in the supermarket because of those reasons. =p I'll just see if it is fresh or not. If it is not, then I have to go to the wet market to buy those fresh ones. =p

haha! bargaining is a skill. but even though, on those people who don't know how to bargain, wet market is still cheaper than the supermarket wet market i suppose.

Yes.., It's true that in the wet market, goods are cheaper and I guess more fresh than the ones on the supermarket which are stored in big freezers right? But I shop for groceries in the supermarket because.., it's more convenient., the environment is neat.., cold and not too smelly..=)

Each has advantages and disadvantages and it is up to the person to choose. I also love to shop in the supermarket because also of your reasons. =p But I also visit the wet market often when some are really not found fresh on the supermarket... I just take a list so that i will not stay longer in the public wet market when shopping.

Hi! I would prefer to go to the public wet market for fish, vegetables and fruits. It's a lot more cheaper and more fresh than the ones in the supermarket. For my grocery needs, of course I go to the supermarket for that and sometimes when I'm in a hurry and no time to go the public market, I just buy everything I need in the supermarket. It's really a more convenient at a supermarket than in a public market but if you're in a tight budget then it would really be wise to go to the public market for your fish, meat, vegetables and fruits. :)

We always have our preferences on where to shop. I agree with you...
If we are in a hurry then, we choose the more comfortable and convenient place. =p

For non-perishable products like canned goods, personal care needs, condiments, etc. I prefer to go to groceries because it is more convenient shopping in a grocery than a public market. But when it comes to perishable items like those fresh vegetables, meat, and fish I prefer buying those in a public market because it is in public market where you can find freshly butchered meats, freshly catched fish, and freshly picked vegetables, and so on and in public market also, you have the chance to haggle for the price of a certain stuff.

I buy my meat in the supermarket. I am very much sure that the meat in the supermarket is clean as they have some reputable brands there.
I don't trust the wet market on my meat, because maybe it came from a dirty, unlicensed slaughterhouse.... We don't know how they work there.
Meat can bring many diseases when they are not cleaned well.
I am stating my idea on this. =p
Thanks for your ideas. I value them much.

We have three kinds of markets where I live, Farmer's Market, Supermarket, and Organic Stores. I usually go to the Supermarket or the Farmer's Market for my food, and most of my friends work at the Farmer's Market and the Supermarket, so I go and buy food from them since we all know where the food comes from.
