Is the payslip-lady the most popular person at work?

Do you have a payslip-lady at work? - Payslip-lady, the most popular person at work

Everywhere I go, every job I’ve had, it always seem that the pay-slip lady is the most popular person in the company. People always had time for her, to share jokes, exchange pleasantries, etc. And nobody dared to dis-respect her! And I’ve heard her being described in different terms: as their bridge, as a sight for sore eyes, as their light at the end of the tunnel. I am not ‘diss-ing’ her, I just find it funny that people associate her with ‘getting paid’. So is she the most popular person where you work at? What do you call her? Do you find yourself always giving her the time of day? If she is not, then who is the most popular then? What do you call them?

I've had jobs where I got the paycheck or direct deposit slip from the boss, others where I've gotten it out of a box myself, and others where it's just a co-worker albeit in a higher position then me. I was happy to get the money and appreciative to those who handed me the slip, but I can't say I stayed to chat as usually it was either back to work or going home time!

Yes, I must reiterate in saying that most of my paychecks were direct deposit. I had one that I had to pick up, and I was actually getting it from the owner of the restauraunt most of the time.

That should be the case. Because the people that gave you the slips are not really the ones paying you, unless of course they owned the company. I remember that feeling of just wanting to go home as soon as I get my payslip. Now, it's just automatic debit, and the feeling is not really the same anymore.

LOL I don't call her anything she is just working and most of the time she is the one that sends out changes of benefit, vacation starting period etc not the most popular person but I never had a row with her, maybe misunderstanding, but that's because my boss didn't tell her I took work home and so she didn't count it as over time really it's my boss, not her fault

Still, it would be advantageous not to make any 'row' with her. If she wills it, she could mess up benefits and vacations of anybody she likes, or dislikes for that matter. Thanks!

Are all of your payslip ladies prettY? Because I think that would explain it more than anything else... it's not like she can snub your check if you don't hang out and giggle with her. lol Our "payslip lady" is the boss... haha... my last job my checks were direct deposited, the check stub mailed to me and I didn't have anyone to go to get my check. Maybe the rest of the people you were with are just idiots... I mean that nicely. lol

That's just it. Mine also get deposited directly, yet people still treat the lady that distributes the stub nicely. So I just enrolled with an online thing that makes my stub emailed to my inbox. So that if I treat the payslip lady nicely, it's all real. And I wouldn't call her pretty. Can't sleep huh?

I actually haven't worked outside the house in over four years and even when I did work outside the house, there wasn't anything really special about the person that gave us our paystubs because of the fact that our earnings were directly deposited into our checking or savings accounts. I suppose that the person that I really worshipped was the person that transferred the money electronically from the employers account into my account and that is a person that I never even knew.

I guess you're right. The one to worship should be the one who transfers it to the bank. I just don't know why people here treat her with utmost respect, as I'm sure that the one who does the direct deposit is a different person. I think it's a matter of perception. Thanks.
