Are you a member of a fraternity or brotherhood?

This pops up in my head because recently I have an encounter with one of the fraternities in our campus. Honestly, it was not a good one. I don't want to name drop since I am not a backstabber and I have respect to every organization. Back to the topic, I did something bad to one of their member accidentally due to the nature of my tasks in one of the events of our organization. I asked for apology and I told them that I didn't mean to do it. Its just that I was impatient already at that time because of the people that come and go to the gate that I was guarding at that time. The leader of the Fraternity confronted me after a few days of the incident. I was really afraid that the members would do something bad to me. They asked me to make a public apology letter to their organization. I did it and made one. The thing that I hate the most was when the leader asked me to join them. That was really a surprising thing because he just said bad things about me and then here we are, asking me to join them. What do they think of me? I am not a fool to join them.
How about you? Have you ever experience something like that? Do fraternities bring any good thing in the society? Kindly share it here.

Hi, JasperTore. This is exactly why I don't belong to a fraternity club at all. Because of things as this. You did the right thing by writing the letter of apology to the club. I don't think that I will ever join a fraternity organization because it is too many things that they expect from a person. And bad things seem to happen every now and then. I would rather just to keep my distance away from these type of clubs.

I write the letter of apology for the sake that it would stop them from bothering me anymore but it turned out that they want me to join them by making me feel bad in the situation that I am into. Good thing I was not able to join them because I do believe that if they force me I can always report them to the Office of the Student Affairs and their organization will be revoked and be dismissed in the university.

I am not a member of any fraternity or brotherhood. I don't feel the need in joining them when I was in college. Also most fraternities will almost surely clash with other fraternities. And this will greatly affect my studies. So I decided I will never join them.
I think fraternities are good if they have activities that will benefit the university or the community they belong. But if all they do is fighting with other fraternities then they should just disband. They are no different from a criminal group.

i am a member of a fraternity/sorority..
i was in college when i got into the organization. i joined them because i feel like i was alone those times.. then it occured to me that it was a stupid idea. because before i became a member, i underwent physical and mental abuse. i washed tons of clothes by hand in the dormitories of my masters, do researches, assignments, projects, bow to them, run for them, kiss their hands, hah! it was stupid, neway, i became a member before i knew it. ehehe!!
right now im 30, and im ashamed to admit that i was part of that group.
i dont remember that we ever had any activity that was relevant to us studnets..
all we did is to get drunk... hmp!
if id only have the chance to chane my life id erase the fraternity part..

This is what I don't like about fraternities and sororities, hurting you physically and mentally before being able to join their group. What's the point of doing that? Is there a good thing about hurting somebody? Most of the time, fraternities(not all) are just drinking and doing nothing. They cause trouble when they have encountered their rival group.
