I have been out of the US for about 6 years, now that I am back I was thinking about getting back into PC repair. I have tried checking out the rates locally, but they seem to be almost random. What do you think is a reasonable hourly rate. I am willing to undercut competition pretty badly to ensure customers :))

Wow, $150 is expensive in rand value in RSA. In RSA is costs about R80 which is estimated $560 per hour. I would say to start a business and build a client base, maybe ask $80 per hour labour. If it is only your labour at first, it costs you nothing. Maybe add sum money in the hardware or software you have to purchase to repaid the PC.

Trust me when I say I have outsoruced IT and computer repairs a great deal it is the going rate. $80 believe me you get what you pay for which will not include customer service and care.

So if I understand you, people is not going to expect good service for $80, and thus will not come to our friend?

They truly do vary depending on the issues with the pc's. But I know the going rate is $150 for the first hour and $80 each additional. Many places have a bench fee upfront which basically is something like $85 just to diagnose the problem and if the customer chooses to have the repairs they cut that by half. Good luck with that and there truly is money making in this area as so many can; live without their pc's. Welcome to myLot - as I see you are fairly new.
