I have been making my own Soy Candles for over 2 years now, have any of you tried this and if so what are your favorite scents? My all time fall scent is Pumpkin Crunch Cake. Winter Scent Mrs. Claus' Cookies, and Peppermint. Spring: Lilac (hence the name) Summer: Monkey Farts.

To be completely honest with you I thought the same thing, that it would be to expensive to do, I made my initial purchase of soy flakes and scents from e-bay and it was so cheap! I know go all over looking for new scents and colors to combine them with.

I have not heard of soy candles. The only candles I know about are bees wax and I've been too chicken to make them. This sounds wonderful. Pumpkin, peppermint, lilac, marvelous!! Monkey farts???? Ummmmmm...lol..... Would you share your secret? Please direct me to a link that shows me how to make these.

Anytime, if you seriously get in to making candles its a great way to make gifts and money as well. You can add sea shells in to nature scents, sands, stuff like that. I would love to add you as a friend if that would be alright also.

ooh i've never heard of making candles from soy flakes! sounds great! i've made my own candles by reconstituting ugly pre-made wax candles, layering colors and using essential oil scents. but your way sounds better;) what are the scents made of? similar to what's sold for burning in an oil scent diffuser?i wonder if you can incorporate pre-scented candle 'waffles' into your soy flakes, to expand the mixture and flavor/scents?

Yes, I love the soy, I tried bee's wax and didn't like it at all, more or less, you do the same thing with the soy flakes that you did with the pre made ones. Of course you can use the waffle presented with soy. I purchase all my oils on line, from many different places, they are essential oils yes, but there are ones that are specific for candles, and body products. It is a great hobby that I can say. It does wonders for stress:) I try to make a few different scents each night. You should really look into it.

thanks! yeah i loved making candles but i found it distracted me form doing other things ;) i remember a particular incident with me showing my boyfriend some cool waxy formations i had left-over, and ended up melting wax onto my jeans, which never fully washed out LOL the bf was not amused, thought i was being childish "playing with wax" etc LOL. but i might try to start up again with the soy flakes ;)

I don't personally make candles myself but I started with a direct sales business that makes soy candles. We have over 100 scents I love to burn candles all through my house, I love burning a yummy smelling candle like Banana nut bread or sugar cookies in my kitchen. my site is www.marloquinn.com/scents4u if anyone is curious about trying soy it puts out more scent, burns a lot longer and burns cleaner.

I ummm seem to run low on the oil after its melted, could that be part of the reason for the 6 kids Mark an I have ;)

I haven't tried making candles, but I'm sure it's a lot of fun. I seem to get really bad headaches from strong scents, and prefer the candles to smell more like food then flowers. Pumpkin crunch cake sounds good. =)

I could not believe how easy it was, I started only because of my love of candles and where I was living in a little small town in the middle of no where there wasn't any where to purchase quality candles, I went to ebay of all places and saw what I was looking for and wanted to cry at the price, it was $42.00 for a triple wick candle. My husband knows I love to take on new endeavors said, " Why don't you get the stuff and make them yourself I know you can" and so the journey started and let me tell you it is very very addictive.

Ahh the scent of vanilla, have you ever mixed the two of them together for vanilla musk? I love that scent. Christmas scents are my favorite, especially in the hot summer time, it gives me that warm feeling inside:)
