Is there a pipe dream that you’re still following?

A few years ago I interviewed for a job in France which would have relocated my family to Paris. It was a high profile job in a prestigious company. I reached the final interview, and was one among 3 final candidates. Unfortunately I was not the one chosen.
After this experience, I still had dreams of landing the perfect job in the perfect city. And then the recession hit, and it was getting harder and harder to find even just other opportunities.
Yet I hang on to this dream, even if it’s a pipe dream. Maybe one day all the stars will line up and I would realize what I have been hoping for.
How about you? Is there a particular ‘pipe’ dream that you’re still hanging on to? Why haven’t you given up?

I had Thought I wanted to work for let's call it company X. I Finally was qualified to a open position, or at least I thought, I got interviewed by two people separately. With the first I thought I got the job , with the second, I Knew i didn't. I wasn't upset. I just thought this post wasn't for me. Think of the Paris gig like that.
There are two dreams I Know I will never live . One is to visit Tuscany and the other visiting Chicago. The first is soo much of my reach. but Chicago could happen , but I doubt it.

Would you believe me if I told you that I didn't even think about watching hockey when I got to Chicago! I didn't even think about a Cubs game either! But now that you mention it , that would be great! I would love to see my Wings In Chicago. I will never get to see them at the Joe!
I didn't see the movie with Diane, it was another film called Stealing Beauty Starring Liv Tyler that made me fall for Tuscany.it just took my breath away.

Ohhh! Tuscany! I've often dreamt of that place. Ever since I saw that movie with Diane Lane. It would be great to live there if you didn't have to worry about income.
And I would love to visit Chicago too! I bet it's the ultimate sports town. I've actually been there once when my flight back home that stopped at Chicago missed its connecting flight. I just stayed at a hotel near the airport to sleep.
Although I hate the hawks for beating up on my canucks, I would love to watch hockey at the United Center!

Well, the main pipe dream that I've had in my life, was that I was going to be a pediatrician when I grew up. However, I did ultimately end up giving up on that one. However, I have also dreamt for a long time that I will eventually be a novelist. I know that it really is still a long shot for that to happen for me, but it is something that I have been trying to actively pursue in my life. I would love nothing more than to have that happen to me.

Believe it or not, I've had the same dream of being a novelist for the longest time. And I know that it's really not easy. It takes a lot of work! And a lot of research if you go by the successful ones today.
I hope you get there! I know you've already taken your initial steps, with Helium and all. In terms of writing I mean.

What's stopping you then? You could be in a small city, and still work as a contributor to an upscale magazine right? And just go in the big city once in a while. And maybe you could have assignments that would let you travel.
Maybe you could parlay your discussion-writing here in myLot into article writings for a magazine.

Mine is small and kinda sad. For probably 15 years I've wanted to own a Mitsubishi Spyder. The first time I saw one I was hooked. I have a convertable now but it's not the dream car. At one point I had a choice. The dream car versus a home. I chose the home, so now we have a huge mortgage, a recent job loss and bills piling up. My credit is shot because I couldn't pay the mortgage, monthly bills and the credit cards. Once again I of course chose the home. I truly love our house,it has all the things I so wanted in a home and I don't regret making the choice I did. But I would still one day love to have that car. I refuse to give up because some way and some day I will own the Spyder. Most people change their minds about cars but I have remained loyal. Right now it's my pipe dream but dreams sometimes do come true.

Like you I also had dream cars growing up. I remember my first dream car was an Opel Manta (go figure). Although currently it's a BMW X5, I distinctly remember going through a phase where it was the Mitsubishi Spyder. I also dreamt of driving it through a stretch of highway going over the speed limit with my favorite electric music on the radio.
Anyway, I hope that when we all get out of this recession, and when everything will finally look up, you'd still have the chance to get your Spyder.

As long as you have willpower and patience, and continuously enrich yourself approaching the target, your 'pipe dream' is feasible, and in the end a success. Some people just give up after they confront a small problem,i don't wanna say much to those people.
Just keep the dream in your mind,go for it.I'm a student,i dream of founding a company in China, not big,but cost-effective.
