Overworked news stories

Is this really what the American people want? One small-time preacher announces his plans for a little book burning and he gets constant attention and a free trip to New York, the press covering each step of the way. Like the National Enquirer's fixation on the Batboy and space aliens advising whatever administration is in the white house at the time. It just goes on and on and on. The guy is getting more press than Monica Lewinsky in the previous millennium.
Comment as you see fit. One suggestion is other stories in the past like this, some little thing that the press clamped its jaws on and made you sick with the constant repetition.

I'm fed up with the news in general. the over sensationalize everything ! I saw a news report once about a hail storm that happened in my home town ...they made it out to be a huge devastating rain of icy destruction. But it really only lasted 30 seconds or so, and there was really no damage at all.
I can be paranoid without turning on the news. I don't understand why they seem to deliberately try to scare us. There's just no point.

Of course I couldn't find my favorite hail story, personally experienced. I was living in Colorado Springs in the early 1990s, and one summer my then-employer, Lockheed had a picnic. Suddenly a thunderstorm struck, and we sought shelter as we personally observed funnel clouds going up and down from the clouds above us. After the storm we headed home, and found that in the summer season, two feet of hail was deposited in northern Colorado Springs. People who never took their snow shovels out of their cars helped dig out the cars in the mall that were buried there. The snow plows eventually came, but at the time, the story was community service, people helping people in a time of need.
People helping people. I just might move back there, and hopefully the people are the same way today. Despite that conservative christian family group headquartered there. But then, that's another story -
