I attempted to but scared enough that it will only worsen our computer so i always need my husband's help. He is good at it. Sometimes when i really need to do it myself i just call someone to give me procedures, really step by step process to a job well done.

I think you should not be scared to trying. There is nothing bad about it. At least you try to prove that you can fix it no matter what. A person who is afraid to try will be afraid of it throughout his/her life. You can also ask someone to guide you if ever you need some advice.

Oh yes, I have repaired my computer myself many times, I have learned slowly over the time I have been online how to do different things, starting with plain old errors, I have not went inside the computer but I can do all the cosmetic stuff myself. My mindset is. Its already messed up what else can I do to it?? lol So i start and see how that ends up, they are so many help boards and books around now everyone should take a second and get to know their own computer.

Yes, I did, there was a time when the my computer suddenly turned off. I thought there was a power interruption but the power was okay. Eventually, I opened up the computer and found out that it was very hot. Upon sensing the temperature, one thing came to my mind. Perhaps something is wrong with the fan that cools of the computer. I was right. Well, I remove the small blower which was very easy to do. I brought it to a computer shop and got myself a replacement. I put the part back and turned on the computer. I no longer experience such problem.

Well there are things on the computer that I feel comfortable about when I do it. Then again, there are times where it is just to leave everything to the professionals. The thing about trying to repair a computer when you only vaguely know what you are doing, is that you can do a lot more damage when you try and do it yourself, as opposed to having a professional do it.
So yeah, there are times where I managed to fix a problem or two on my own. However, there are times where doing it yourself, is dooming it yourself. It really is a case by case situation myself. It really depends on each and every individual situation. Sometimes its a success, but a lot of the times, I really wish I had not been messing around on the inside of the computer.

No, I have not doen any repair work to my computer. I don't have that training or skill. All I can do is connecting the lines. That I do by referring to the user manual. I am quite confident in making the comnnections now. Other than that, I have to have the help of the computer service technicians.

I usually repair my computer by myself, because it saves up a great deal of cash.
Although I do not normally repair hardware, much like replacing it with a new one.
I usually deal with software problem, so I don't need to go to service center just to install my operating system or my needed software.

Yes, I do everything myself now in terms of fixing and repairing my own computer. I took a course in computer maintenance a few years back and I'm so pleased that I did. I used to rely on the expertise of others but now that I have the knowledge as it were it sure it a real pleasure going inside my own pc and seeing what is what!
I'm actually in the process of building a computer from scratch as well and so I will feel a great sense of achievement once I complete this task. It's nice when you can help and assist others too that don't have much knowledge in the way of computer maintenance. Anyway, here's to computers! Andrew

Yes I'm a computer technician and believe me the best way to learn about computer is do it by your self alone, If you have an old computer just check for the part like RAM, graphics card or processor explore the power and data cable in order to get familiarize with the connections.
