You can make a difference? With the threat on world peace today, the tragedy of september 11 lingering and still is real, with floods, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions so rampant, the economic depression we are all trying to recover from, lots of unemployment around, do you still believe that you can make a difference?
I'm no closer to a saint, in fact far from being one. I'm just as human. But I do believe that each of us can still make a difference. I believe that as long as there is hope in our hearts there will be hope. As long as there is hope for world peace in each of us there will be hope for world peace. There is nothing much we can do to stop the wrath of mother nature or the widespread unemployment but we can always help one another in many small ways of our own though, in these difficult and trying times of mankind.
The least, we can all start with is by believing that each one of us can make a difference. By making a difference in each of us I'm sure we can all make a big difference to this world we call home. Let's all give it a chance!
What do you think?

Hi tomi,
This is very inspiring to read.
I definitely believe we can make a difference and it can be done here and now. Just be determined to change ourselves for the better. Having this thought alone, we are making a difference because motivation influence our thoughts and thoughts would influence our actions.
Just being at peace with ourselves, we are also inspiring others to be at peace with others. We do not have to actively do something but by starting with ourselves, we can be teaching by example.

Hi tomitomi,
I dont think you need to be a saint to make your contribution. Every one of us on the planet makes some contribution - positive or negative.
I work as a teacher and consultant and that is how I make contribution to the society.
Apart from society, the other place where I make my contribution is
saving the planet - I do not communicate via personal vehicles, instead I prefer to travel by using public transport. I also have CFL bulbs at home and at office, I do not use printers or printed stationary except for business cards. That is my contribution towards a greener earth.
I also spend my Holidays (I agree that not all of them) with orphans at an orphanage and try to share my experiences, time with them to make them smile.
I am an ordinary guy who is ill and suffering. If I am able to contribute, many of us can and I believe they are.

Absolutely agree, no saint just ordinary people. But you lead an extra ordinary life. Your life is just as colorful as the values you believe and contributed in. I'm sure it's been great.
I help to run a small school and a home mostly for the intellectually disabled who are orphans, the sick and homeless, but there are many others who are deaf, blind and physically challenged, irregardless of race and religion not where I live now but in a third world country. The beautiful thing with the people I work with is that they have nothing more than their faith and the big believe that we can all make it. Such is the wonder of the human spirit and the power of believing.
By the way, what are you suffering from, my friend?

Hey-hey, You are a social worker and contributing more towards the society. That's really great and good. They say that good people keep good company and I find it true in your situation. Good Luck tomitomi.
It is great to know that people across the world are contributing more towards Positive Results and this makes me feel that the world definitely is a better place and would be better for good.
I am suffering from Ulcerative Colitis (some also know this disease by the name - Chron's Disease) and Acute Rheumatoid Arthritis which forces me to stay at home most of the time.

I think we always make a difference, but the question is if it is good or bad. So in the end the best thing for everyone to do is to make a difference in themselves for the better and the whole world will change. People try to do things from the very top so that is where it gets confusing because we have to start from the very bottom... from change oneself.

I truly believe that each one of us can make a difference. We can all do something to mske the world a better place. We just have to be willing to try. When we work together to achieve the same goal it will be worth the journey there. One person can stsrt the chain and make a diffence in the world. Change has begin with you.

...i agree with you..if we aim for change, we should start the changes in our own self..eventually, it will grow by influencing someone we know and then one way or another, we will achieve the changes we desired for...if each one of us will be united as one, we can make a difference...
