I have had a few strict teachers in my day. Of course, those teachers really did teach me a lot. They might have been hard nosed, but blast it, they knew their material. They had passion about their chosen career in some intriguing way. Trust me, that is extremely important. A teacher that is too relaxed, might mean that they really do not care about their job. Plus, with these strict teachers, deep down, they only want the students that they teach to succeed. They have some sense of pride with how their students do.
I have interacted with a couple of these teachers on a personal level. They are rather normal people. Well as normal as you can get on this world. Still, when they step into the arena of teaching, that switch goes on and it is time to teach the students. Still, to me, it was never a problem of teachers being too strict. Those who acted up, obviously it was going to be a bit more of a problem.

For me, it is 50/50 with appreciating strict teachers. I know with some teachers, they are doing their job in teaching people how to learn. However, not everyone needs a strict teacher. I have not known a strict teacher on a personal level. Would I have wanted to? Only if it would shed some light on why they are strict and what they think their strict methods would bring, in teaching.

I definitely appreciate my strict teachers when I was still in school, because they played a part into molding me into what I am today. However, the way some of my strict teachers do things are just appalling. For example, I remember there was one strict teacher who always carried a cane wherever he goes and when he finds students at the inappropriate place at the wrong time, he will just cane the student without any questions (even if you had a valid reason being at the inappropriate place at that time). Most of the strict teachers are feared and disliked among students, and some even became the target of student pranks, but I guess that's the risk strict teachers have to take! I have never known my strict teachers on a personal level before, but they certainly know who I am......

My strictest teachers from my school days are the ones that i remember the best. they are the ones that helped to make me the kind of person I am today. Instead of critiicsm for their deeds, I do have appreciatrion for what they did for me.

I appreciate my strict teachers because I know what they're doing is for our own good. I don't like a teacher who is spoon-feeding the class because the class won't appreciate the subject when the class is over. I have known my strict teachers on a personal level but that was when I graduated. They became my friends. :-)

Yes, I do appreciate strict teachers. However, they need to also know where to draw the line. Overdoing it will not help any student.
On saying that, I know it's difficult for teachers to do so! They want us to do well too!
However, as students, most of us during our course of studies hate them. Most importantly, teachers need to know how to teach instead of simply reading off course materials!
