How do you think about selling on Internet?

There are many company and retailer sell their products on Internet. How do you think about that? I don't do this before. I don't know they can sell many items and getting profit much? Or Selling on Internet only for marketing?

Hi! Though I have not done this before, it works for me as a customer so I assume those having this as a tool for their products are getting profits just the same. I want to set-up one but I am still thinking of what I have to sell for now. For a business, online selling will save some administrative costs like the place, manpower, etc. You can also work at your home at your convenience.
