Do you hate running out of things.

Most days this week my husband has had to pop off to the shop to get bits that we have ran out of things,as we did not get the chance to do our weekly shopping at the weekend.Well this is rare that we run out of things,as we tend to do bulk shopping.Today aswell as yesterday he has done bulk shopping,so this week while he is off work he has not got to go out to the shop,as we have three times the amount of things than we would normally get, including cleaning things.

I hate that too, running out of things when you need them ASAP. Right now we're doing a schedule and a reminder to keep intact with the things we hate running out.

Sometimes I run out of things and have to make a special trip to go get them, only to find out a day or two later that I had some on hand, but just not where it was looked for. Duhh. I just bought all sorts of ant traps for my principal dwelling, only to pop over to my vacation place and find ants and no traps. So I went out to the laundry room and guess what, no borax either. So I went to the store to buy borax to make my own ant traps and when I came back, guess what, no ants.

I am like this a lot. I have ant traps and wasp spray. Wal Mart no longer carries borax or boric acid powder. I went yesterday to get stuff to make homemade laundry soap, and Wal Mart did not have a single one of the ingredients I needed.

No wasps is even better than no ants, Jugs!
Gerty, what a coincidence. Just today I was reading a forum all about making homemade laundry soap and many people said that WalMart carries washing soda, but I've never seen it there. I am in Arizona this week, so I did find Borax at a grocery chain store called Bashas. They changed the color of the box again, so I had to hunt for it.

I don't buy in bulk but I always buy ahead and make sure I have stuff I know that we will be using. I usually buy several when things are on sale. Especially the more expensive items. I am not a member of any of the bulk clubs or anything. I just don't shop that much. I make a good list when I do go though.

I love to get things when they are on special, especially things like washing powder, dish washer tablets, also other things that will keep.We tend to do bulk,as it is easier for us aswell as it saves money, aswell as time,we have a large family,so we have to get loads of things each time that we go shopping.

Love a good sale. I have a small family and with only three of us we don't need alot. I was brought up by people who lived through the depression and so we do ok.

I think that in the end it can save soo much time aswell as soo much money when you buy in bulk.If there are things on special then we also get more than we need and that lasts sometimes for more than a month, mainly cleaning things like dish washer tablets aswell as washing powder, loo roll.

actually you are right, when we buy in bulk, the price we get is in wholesale price already and we got to get a real good price with it

We do alot of bulk shopping as we find it easier than keep backwards aswell as forwards to the shop all of the time.A friend of mine said that she will take me shopping so that i can get all the things that i want to that my husband always forgets about, but thankfully he has been shopping yet again today and got bulk shopping.

You know I found someone posted I think on another forum about doing some sort of shopping method to stock up on staples. You know like one week you buy 5 boxes of mac'n cheese, the next you buy cream soups, the next rice, the next beans & rotate back. It was an interesting method. I know I hate running out of stuff and that's usually when I have no money to run out and get that item or two needed for a meal.

I think that shopping is getting alot more expensive and when things are on special then it is always a great idea to get them,as in the long run it saves soo much money. With having a big family like us we find that there are always alot of things that we have to get each week, most weeks my husband has to use two trolleys and still go back to get another one,he takes one of the children to help him.

I dislike running out of things, as well. My husband and I have a tendency to go groceries once every week or every other week and we get all the things we need in bulk. It's frustrating when we run out of quite a few things and then we have to go get them during the week, after work or school or something like that. It can get a little frustrating at times.

Hi dear,
Sometimes it is really a pain and too much of botheration. At many times I prefer frequent buy only than mass shopping. As all are immediately available at so closer, I don't worry about the short of things, and can be accessed within 5 mts. of time. Still, if the things are not really around, it is time waste and we need to run again and aging or the short things. This is a kind of botheration.
However, I will make a categorization and priorities the things which all are really required urgently and the most important things really in need. Accordingly, I will make a list and do the shopping as per the requirement.
Regards,
Thank-s

We tend to write a list, but there are times that we forget things that we have not put on the list,i find that even when we have done bulk shopping there are always things that we run out of and it is horrid, when you need the things there and then that we run out of.

on my case, the ones i usually put on stock are things and not necessarily food, especially the ones that have expiry dates, well if in case i do stock up some food, it will have to be those food that do not have expiry date

Expecially if it's something you've got a sudden crave for. You rush to fridge, but all you see is an empty plate of crumbs...

YEah, i dun like the feeling of things running out at home.. It's kinda frustrating when the things i need are not available at that crucial moment.. haha =D Imagine in the midst of preparing a cake, only to find that we ran out of whip cream?? haha =D
If possible, i will be stocking up as much as i can, to prevent such scenarios from happening. PLus, it will be so much convenient, and i need not be visiting the convenience store every now and then.. haha =D

I don't like running out of things either, I'd rather buy it in bulk and have it, but then again that can be a disadvantage, especially if the things get spoiled before they are properly used. My husband and I usually buy two of everything so that we won't run out of it as fast.

I tend to buy the largest boxes of things rather than a normal size, also like you i usually buy two of things rather than one, that way there is last chance of running out of them.I tend to buy alot of things that do not have a before date, like all the cleaning things that we use, aswell as things that can be stored.

I am forever trying to remember to write all the things that we need down on a list. There are things that we tend to forget to write on the list,so this time we got bulk of everything that we needed aswell as a few extra things, just to make sure that we do not run out of them.

i do a shop once a week but i always run out of the odd thing,or i forget to buy it,we always run out of milk as i don't like to keep too much in the fridge just incase it does'nt get used, although it always does, and on the odd occasion we'll run out of cat food

We have always done bulk shopping, aswell as got all the largest size of items that we use,i think it is also a great way to save money aswell. My husband forgot a few things this week, all due to lack of time doing the shopping i think. We tend to get at least six lots of six pints of milk a week, thankfully we have two fridges, aswell as we freeze bread,so that we always have a few in the freezer if we run out, thankfully i have two fridge freezers, aswell as a cheast freezer. The only problem we have is space,so when buying bulk we have to find places to put all the shopping that we can not fit in aswell as on cupboards.I buy bulk cat food,i get a sack of cat biscuits, aswell as cases of cat food, but there are times we run out of cat food tins.

I absolutely despise running out of the things that I know that I am going to need. The reason for this is that when we have to make unplanned trips to the store, it means that we are going to buy spending more money than necessary because there is not a trip to the store that doesn't have some impulse items that are picked up as well. My favorite way to shop is to make a list for two weeks and go to the store and buy it all.
