I'm having second thoughts of associating my yahoo email for my Alertpay and Paypal accounts. I've heard of email addresses being hijacked & you just can't help thinking that if it's easy for someone to have access to your address book & send emails to those people without your knowledge & consent, it will be easier for them to break through your password & hack your Alertpay or Paypal accounts. Does frequently changing your password helps? Do you need separate emails for each? What security measures can I do to protect my accounts? Does using email clients like outlook express or windows mail help?

I think you will be pretty safe using yahoo for your Alertpay and Paypal accounts. I run a few websites and members post payment proofs everywhere and well some forget to edit out the transaction id and email address from the sender. I have used the same email address for my paypal for 2 years now linked to my websites. If anyone was going to get hacked well it would be me with all those payment proofs out there lol. I change my password once every 2 weeks for my yahoo account.

Well, I guess based on your experience I can say that it's pretty much secure to use a yahoo id then even if you link it to other websites. Thanks! Coz that's what I actually did but I was planning to create an email just for my Alertpay/Paypal. Not necessary then.

No problem. Almost everyone talks about earning money online. So I guess it's just right for us to protect what we have worked for.

well for me no amount of email security can help you. that is why the password you use for your email account is different from your paypal account.
the only way that you can protect your email account if the email provider has some ip lock system in place which i think yahoo and gmail doesnt have.

IP lock system? You mean you can't login to your emails if you're going to use another computer with a different IP? Which email provider has that option?
