What are you scared of?

I am not scared of insects or being alone in the dark. I totally dislike public speaking, but does that count? When required to speak in public, it would really take an effort for me to just go and accomplish the task. My little son, shrieks just seeing a cockroach. I'm scared to the reality that I might lose my son even before I've gone. I'm scared of death. The thought of being left by your loved ones, the thought of leaving them behind. But I guess that's how the circle of life goes and we just got to accept. How about you what are you scared of?

I'm deathly afraid of cockroaches especially the ones that attack while airborne. It's just that they're so disgusting in appearance and they act as if they know that you're afraid of them since they'll come charging right at you when you're trying to go around or back away from them. I can kill them though but it'll take me one long while to get even one. I mean, I'll have to prepare my cockroach killing tools like a slipper (that's not mine) or one long newspaper roll. Often times I would just call someone else to kill cockroaches for me, usually my mum, but she finds it sadistically entertaining to lift the cockroach up by the antennae and wave it in my face! o_O

I think you maybe influned you son possibly, when I was a little girl, I am scared of snake,my grandmother was living in rural area,I can saw the snakes around the road everytime when I was visiting my grandmother.I was crying and shrieking, but my father always encouraged me---be good, dont worry, the snake dont want to hurt you if you dont touch it. When I growing up,I always remember my father`s words,I can remember something beautiful and I dont scare everything. So I think you should create some bravery visualize for your son in the life. goodluck~

I guess we all have a degree of fear in life, and public speaking is one of mine, but I don't regard it as being a fear as when I have done public speaking, I have shared that fear openly with those I am talking to and after a few laughs or recognition, the fear just disappears. If you cannot share something, then it will persist. _Derek

hi sweet--pea I am scared of spiders specially brown recluse ones and of snakes, rattlers especially and I am most afraid of heights to the point I hate coming up more than two floors in a building as i really do not like looking down from a height like that. I really hate being up in the nosebleed section of the baseball bleachers.

The one thing I can think of that I am afraid of is big aggressive dogs. I love all animals and I have a few pets myself including a dog; what I’m talking about are those huge aggressive breeds like Pit bulls and the like. I witnessed my boss being attacked by a Rottweiler once and I have been even more scared since then! I used to walk to school as a kid and I remember this huge canine used to bark loudly and bang against the fence he was confined in. I would run as fast as I could because I had visions of the fence coming down and me being eaten!

Many people have dogs as favorite pets in the house. For me, I am very scared of dogs, all and any kind of dogs. The reason is that when I was young I had a dogbite. It was on the road, I was enjoying a jog, and all of a suddenly a dog showed up and bit me. Oh, it was so painful, and I had to go to the doctor, and get vaccinations. Since then, I have been very careful with dogs. Scared, and never get close to dogs.

I'm not scared of dogs but I have an unforgettable experience with one of them. I was a little girl then, and i was avoiding this puppy who was tagging at my dress. While trying to avoid it, i fell on a creek. I had my legs scraped. There was so much blood. From then on, I don't go near dogs and I just stop and walk slowly when I encounter one.

This may sound silly, and in fact most friends of mine are making fun of it!
I am scared of battery-operated toys like police car or ambulance! Every toy that has siren on it!
I remember when I was child my friends chased me. They brought their battery-operated police cars and they turned them all on! Luckily they could not catch me as they were so stupid, turning the toys on so I could detect where they were.
I don't know if I could face having a son or daughter that will buy that kind of toy.

It's the first time i heard of it. Does that mean you didn't have any battery-operated toys ever since you were a boy? What age where you when you realized your scared of it?

I am very scared of Spiders and anything that can harm you like Sharks, JellyFish, Stingrays things like that. I totally understand about being afraid to speak in public I used be frightened by that but I conquerd my fear as i got older. I had a dance show I had to perform with my class in front of a huge audience and i had butterflies in my stomach but until i that all my friends were with me i wasnt afraid anymore i was just having and tried my best.

How I wish I won't have close encounter with sharks in this lifetime. I still have stage fright until now. I don't like performing in public. I don't like making presentations. In fact, I didn't pursue my piano lessons because I had to play in a recital. I'm so scared, I might forget what I have to play. I just couldn't stand the possible humiliation, so I stopped. But if I had to, i still get nervous and yes, I too also have butterflies in my stomach. To overcome it, I usually prepare a lot. It usually lessens the fear when you know what you are doing.

Hi Sweet_pea,
I can totally understand speaking in public that can be very scary cause people judge you just for what you say and how you say it these days. I'm scared of closed in places and dark hallways.

You are brave Hannah. I can't just imagine what you have to go through at a young age, losing your mother, the same person who should be nurturing you with love. I hope you are surrounded with love right now. Virtual hug for you Hannah!

Honestly in my 20 years of existence, my fear may sound funny but this is true. Ever since, I am really scared of cockroaches. I would really cry whenever I am being cornered by a cockroach and I can't find my way out. I remember when I was in my best friend's room then suddenly a cockroach was crawling in front of the door. I really cried and was screaming for my best friend to help me as soon as she can. I think I developed this fear because when I was still a little girl, my mother used to scare me with cockroaches that's why until now I am really having a hard time to overcome it particularly when it starts to fly.

O my, I sometimes use that tactic when my son becomes too naughty. He is so scared of cockroaches. I tried explaining to him once, that he doesn't need to be afraid because he is much bigger than the roach. I'll try not to scare him about roaches anymore, so he may overcome his fear.

What am I scared of...
I'm also very scared of speaking out in the public, or even in front of many friends, let alone sing songs in KaraOK. What I usually do in the parties is sitting in a shadow, and enjoy being alone or accompanied by few good friends.
When I have to speak, my mind goes blank, my legs shiver and my voice trembles.
I hate myself for being this though, I have no intention to change the situation.
I just try to avoid this.
I also fear challenges in life. I tried to find a job that brought me peaceful life, however, I ended up doing something quite challenging and unpredited.
well, I believe that's life.
No one could fear nothing just like no one could have everything.
The imperfection completes our life and helps us to grow.
So just come on...

I know how to swim. But i don't go to the part where the level of the water is above my neck. It gives me the feeling that I'm drowning.

You can be brave Rondolawe. Being brave would not mean that you are not afraid.
It is a natural feeling to be afraid. It is fighting our own battles each day.
I came a cross with a good definition of bravery. Our battles are nothing compared to the battles these children have to go through.
