Burned out!

After three years of working as a tech support in a callcenter, I'm really burned out. I'm stressed, tired, underpaid, ...I just want to stay at home & relax for at least two weeks not 2, 3 or 5 days max vacation leave that we're allowed to. Just stay at home & watch movies, catch up on my reading, take my kids to the mall. If only I can afford to say "Quit!". But unfortunately, being the breadwinner in the family, I have to consider a lot of things. But still, I need, I deserve a break even if its means just sipping a glass of red wine after I've put my kids to sleep. Or maybe having a whole day-off just for myself. Anymore practical suggestions on how to recharge?

I can only imagine how you feel as I have never worked in a call center but have been burnt just as if I was. Could you as for an extended vacation time, since you have been for sometime now, maybe this is possible. If not then put all home chores aside for a complete day and enjoy the outdoors even with the children and maybe this will clear your mind and allow you to rejuvenate. Good Luck and take it easy.

I did go on vacation leave for 4 days... & heed your advise. So I postponed visiting my hometown. We're actually located in the highlands & the city is called "The city of pines". So it's not only rejuvenating. Me & my kids get to pick pine cones for our christmas tree.

Picking pine cones sounds wonderful and the kids will have a wonderful time.

I worked in a call center and thought it was horrible. People are so offensive and rude. I don't envy anyone that does that job.

Not everyone though. We've got good people too doing everything they can to provide good customer service. Likewise, we also get to meet customers who knows how to appreciate what we're doing for them. We're also trained to pacify irate customers. But sometimes, they also get to your nerves which is actually normal. We're only humans in the first place not automated machines. Just a little bit of patience & tolerance I guess is needed when you're working at a callcenter. Thanks for responding!
