One God Without Religion

Can we believe in one God without religion? All people around the world are praising one God, but their Gods have different names, so why do we need to have a religion if people around the world believe in one God? I told mom that I do not want to involve any religion. I want to believe in one God. She got mad at me and she told me that it is not good not to have a religion...... She told me that it is important to have a religion because there is only one true religion. She said, "true religion"...... so, she said that it is very important for a person to involve in a religion.

In many places, people worship one God. However, in others, people worship many Gods, so it's not accurate to say we all believe in one God.

Hi IntrovertShy, I am spiritual but not religious and I believe the world would be a better place without organized religion. I believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience but we are here to live this life, not to talk about or prepare for the next. Actions speak louder than words and the way we live our life is a prayer. We are not meant to spend our time praising God when our brothers and sisters are going hungry. We should not be building big temples and churches with so many people in the world with no place to life. It would be a very small God that would choose his own praise over the well being of a child. Most people know the golden rule and that is the only religion any of us need. People can believe in one God or Goddess or many, or no God at all. It does not matter. Think about it. Blessings.

Pose, What a great response and so very true! I so so agree with you. Growing up, my parents had me baptized Catholic and I spent a lot of time in many different churches. We also had friends of various religions and often would go into their churches for sermons as guests. One thing I learned even was that much of what we were taught to believe was dependent on the priest, minister etc. And just as much was dependent on individual interpretation as well as the people who influence our thinking as children. How we live our lives and how we treat others and what is in our hearts is going to matter more than anything else in the end.

I personally don't think it is as important to have a religion as it is to have a faith. I think you need to believe in something to get you through the hard times and to give you something to believe in, in this world. I don't think there is one true religion. I believe that religions are all different paths to the same place. I personally don't believe in one God either, I believe in a God and a Goddess. Don't let your parents tell you what to believe, believe what is in your heart and you will be fine. The nice thing about belonging to a religion is that you can meet like minded people and it gives you a template on how to celebrate certain events in your life or how to handle the sad events. But if you don't believe in them or they don't help you, then don't let someone try to talk you into to believing them. Take care and Blessed Be.

Oh... does it mean, you are an atheist? You believe in a God and a Goddess? Are you a pagan? He he he... I am just asking. It is really hard because I grew up in a very religious family and very devoted to God. They are always dictating me of what to do because if I want to do something, they would not permit me to do the things I want to do. They think that I will get sin for the things I do even if it is not a sin. I don't know. I just don't understand them. For me, they are exaggerating too much when it comes to belief and it sometimes affect my normal life. They say that if I have a friend who is a lesbian, they keep telling me not to befriended homosexual because it is a sin. They don't allow us to talk to them because they think that homosexual is a sin. It is really hard.

i must say that we all believe in one God although we called him different names.and he has no relgion, no name, no body etc. he is universal. The teaching of all our religious books are also same. but still we find ourself divided into the different religions.

Very good thinking. People should ask themselves. Do they search for God or religion? I have found no religion really understands God. If we could put them all together, they would be a lot closer. I guess I'm going to follow in God's footsteps. God doesn't belong to any religion. I don't either. One can discover much more about God if one doesn't allow others to bend their view into a box. Religion has God in a nice little box. Well, they think they do. There is so much more to discover. You have made the first step on the path to discovery when you start to question. Nice discussion!!

We all live in the same world yet we speak different languages. For the same reason people around the world are praising one God, but their Gods have different names. Why can't we speak same language? You may call Rose by any name but that would not make Rose change its beauty and fragrance. Same is with God. You may call it by any name yet, his qualities will not change. Same destination one can reach through several routes. Likewise, all religion make you reach to the same God. You may follow any religion, but that does not make a difference.

If there was one God without religion, I think that a lot of people could deal with that. I think that if humanity agreed to basic rules (example would be the Hammurabi Code), then I think that humanity would be in great shape. Problem is, humanity will never be free from religions. No matter how much people would like to see religions die off the face of the planet, they will never go away.

Religion is to have truth about there's is only One God and be with only One God. Any religions who loves that there is only one true God are true Religions. Other than that are just the religions only for this world, which are just a religions of nothingness. Ourselves is also primarily a Religion. The real temple of God is living within us. God is living Inside at the center of our hearts.

Hi Introvertshy, I do not belong to any organized religion. I have my beliefs and I keep them to myself. I think the world would be a whole lot more peaceful if everyone did just that. Organized religion was created by man and it has caused so much violence and hatred in the world. And above all, I wish people would stop pushing their beliefs onto everyone else. It is NEVER ok or justified to be violent or hateful toward another human being and if someone is in a religion that condones that then they are either misunderstanding things or they are in a corrupt religion.

I wonder what your mom would say if you told her the root word of religion is bondage..??? I don't like it either and think what you are saying is awesome, to have no religion and believe in one G♥d.. But take it even further and instead of just believing in this one G♥d, but to get to know Him and have a relationship with Him. That is my goal, to get even closer to G♥d so He can help me in this crazy life of mine..:)

i loved dis topic,2 my perspective there is only one god with several forms...all is dependent upon our faith and our thought....if we believe some one is following us, then we will suspect even a sound of wind, likely if v strongly believe that there is god of our choice then we will believe that he is the only one for us.

No, I think we have only one God. Unfortunately, We call Him from different names. But if you are going to check and compare the words from the bible, koran, it only says the same promote kindness, love and peace. Having religion means believing in God, fearing God, fearing from doing bad things, doing good things. All of which are the contains of the word of the God.

Religion is not the same as faith or even belief. Religion is a way to express your faith and belief with others that believe the same thing. Because of this, it becomes a game of popularity and politics. I have not been actively involved in any one religion since I was a freshmen in college. I have believe in a higher power, I have faith in the people around me. As for being involved in a religion, some people have a need to feel connnected. I feel connected when I am out in nature, when I see something beautiful, when I help a fellow man/woman.
