Do you like to leave a message to the answering machine?

Actually I don't like to leave a message to the answering machine because it seems it's silly to speak in the phone when there is nobody answering you So sometimes I will just hang up the phone if I hear the answering machine answers the phone. How about you?

I hate leaving a message to an answering machine. To tell you the truth I hate to call someone in the first place. It is always easy for me to come and talk in person than over the phone. And when I do call and hear an answering machine I always hung up, unless I have something really important and urgent.

I hate using the phone, also. I rarely call anyone just to talk. I will make appointments, or call a family member if I need to. I leave my answering machine on all of the time, if someone doesn't leave a message, then I can never return the call.
I never answer my phone without screening the call first. Nine times out of ten, if I answer the phone without letting the machine pick up first, it will be a telemarketer.
No thanks!
And I don't have caller ID because I think it is a waste of money when I can just use my answering machine.

Hi youless, I dislike to leave any speaking message in the voice or word leaving box of my cellphone as well. I don't mind to try many times to contact the person and talk directly. Most of the people here feel reluctant to check the voice mail on their phone as well. I did leaave voice mail several times before and my friends didn't answer any of them as well.
As a result of knowing that actually not they didn't want to call me back after listening to the voice messaage left. The truth was they just ignored the voice message I left. It's really disappointing and insulting as well Since then I never like to leave any voice message even I couldn't contact with the person, unless I fail to contact the person many times due to important matter. Anyway for the purpose of safety I still would try to call him or her again untill I get the call back successfully.
Happy posting

Thanks for the BR
Here I have some more to share with you. The call we make will go to voice message automatically if the calling made haven't answered for a fixed time. We are charged once it goes to the voice box. To prevent such extra charge I usually will stop the call after a short while. I don't mind to take the trouble to make another call for the purpose not to pay more. Yeah, it's safer to make another call

I hate answering machines too, mind you I don't like using the phone, I guess it's to do with my anxiety, I get confused and stutter and say silly things, that is why I prefer to talk face to face, email or text! It is very very rare for me to use the phone in the first place, I try to avoid it, the only reason I got a mobile phone is for emergencies and for texting! If in small cases I do have to phone up and I get an answering machine, I will ring back at another time until I hear someone's human response!

hi youless I too dislike leaving messages to doctors and other people whom I really must talk to, as they seem seldom to ever call back and when I am waiting for a live person to talk to It is because the call is important to me. I do not love making those calls so I really do want to talk to a live person.u

At some places you will never get a live person, you will always have to leave a message and be called back.

I prefer to talk to the person rather than to a machine. If I ever do leave a message, it will only be to say "call me", as you don't know who will be listening to the conversation when the message is eventually played back.
Plus, if you're recording and you say something that you either didn't mean, or don't wish for them to hear, it's a little bit hard to then go back and delete everything.

youless,
Well, here's the thing, I would if the person at the other end will bother to retrieve it and get back to me.
But more often than not, these answering machines are already becoming museum relics which people just do not bother. I had a friend who would retrieve his messages when he feels like it where by then is really already too late for anything to be done.
Since the emergence of mobile communications and its technological advances progressing by leaps and bounds, the answering service today is really less sort after or used.
So, it is really not about me and me alone here. The other party just need to be able and know how to use it.

No. I don't like to leave a message to the answering machine. Before, whenever I get that voice prompt, I just put down the phone. But sometimes, I just leave a message if I don't have a choice. But I just hated it because I feel like the recipient will not listen to it and I don't know how I sound like.

Yeah. That is another reason. In most cases, some people are too busy and their phone will automatically delete our message so it is really useless. I have previously worked in a call center and some of our clients are too busy and all we have to do is to leave a message to their voicemail. Sadly, they don't return our calls.

I hate leaving messages because I don't like how my voice sounds when it is recorded. I usually just call them back until I get a response, or wait for them to call me back (a lot of people nowadays have call display).

Same here..lol. I don't like to speak to a machine and as soon as I hear it come on, I disconnect. I would try later to see if the person is there. The easiest way for me to send a message when I don't know if a person is unable to attend a call is to sms.
