Lost sheep? It seems like lost flock to me!

I was late for the the last mass yesterday. I came in from a family day-out and I never thought we would have lasted the whole day. Talk about putting God first. I am truly guilty of putting Him last yesterday. I could have attended the 7 am mass but instead opted to take the 7 pm mass . Hmmp! And the Gospel was about the Lost Sheep. Pondering about the sermon, I was thinking that we probably have more of a lost flock now. Many would really wander someplace else than the church. And many still would give other things more importance than the mass we are called to be in communion with.

I also agree with you. Most of us now are busy doing materials things done giving priority to our Christian obligations. Sometimes I felt to myself guilty for not attending regularly to a mass wherein being a Christian it is our obligation and it should be our number one priority before doing anything else. God give us seven days a week, 6 days of that are provided for our personal matters and the remaining 1 day should be provided for god. Only for one day god wants us to be with him yet we could hardly provide him such one day... and I've realized to myself that even of all the shortcomings I've made for god he still here for me.

At least you have a 80% population following there while we have less than 20% here. Most here follow sport and football on Sunday and to many football is their religion and the football stars are their heroes and gods.

Being able to see yourself in that parable makes the sermon more meaningful, and your remorse means that the meaning is penetrating your heart. I do agree, however, that we have way too many things that we can put first before God.

You are absolutely right. I, myself am guilty of the same negative act. We could actually have gone for 7am mass but we decided to settle for 5.30pm mass and even at that, I was complaining about missing a TV show and was called back to my senses (thank God for that). All in all, I think we should put in much more effort than we do and we should ask God to assist us because we certainly cannot do it on our own. Great post... nice for reminding ourselves that we are relaxing too much.
