The only thing better about a desktop pc these days is the extra internal space for expansion but anything you can put inside a desktop pc now you can buy externally for your laptop. The only single down side to a laptop I can think of is that its awkward to upgrade the processor but if your happy with the speed of the processor once youve bought it then your good to go. I haven't turned on my desktop for about six months now, I just sit beside it with my laptop. Think I might just sell the desktop actually.

From what I gather, you already have experience in usage so that's not a problem. What you may want to consider is the purpose of the machine. Also, how much pay for performance are you willing to commit to. In my opinion, if you simply want the convenience of having a computer on the go, then you may wanna go with an HP laptop...Windows 7 is very easy to use and HP is a trusted brand. However, if you're like me, into music, massive downloads, and photography, you're gonna need to step up to a Mac. Budget first, performance later...that's my motto!

It depends upon the usage.. If you are more of online using for browsing sites, downloading the content.. want to be active even when you are traveling it is better to have a laptop.. desktop is good when you are a harsh users of computer.. i.e you se it for gaming and you keep your computer switched on for a long time.. other things that you could consider is having an upgrade.. upgrading your desktop easier then upgrading your laptop.. if you are a person who like to use the latest technology.. desktop is better option..

Both laptop and desktop has the same use. It actually depends on how you plan to use it. Are you going to use it outside of home? is this for yourself only or would be shared? If it is only for home use and somebody else would be using it most of the time as well as you would i'd suggest you stick with the desktop. Now if you want to be mobile, work or study with your computer handy wherever you are then i'd advice you get yourself a laptop.

You can pretty much turn a laptop into a desktop computer using a docking station. I have it this way, so when I want to take the laptop with me, I just snap it off the dock and it's instantly ready. I use monitor, keyboard, mouse and USB external hard drive this way. A problem is when your laptop tends to overheat if laid on a flat surface for a longer period of time. Sure, you could always buy a cooler pad, but that doesn't work for me, so in this case I'd recommend a desktop computer.

I have had both, but I much prefer my new laptop. I bit the bullet and bought the best I could afford and ended up with a compaq CQ70. The screen in large and I have only ever had one problem with it overheating and switching itself off this summer. From what I understand about laptops, this is pretty common when it gets too hot. I also got a wifi router which means I can sit outside with the laptop while the kids are playing and I am still connected to tne Internet.
