i was wondering, are there still other women there that just goes for what their husband tells them still, and are living a martyr life?

It's their choice I guess. Some women live for those people they love, some for their career and some for themselves. It's just a matter of choice and liberation must come from within them not from the people who's imposing a choice on them!

My Mother always tell me to obey my husband because that is the duty of a wife. But I have a mind of my own so that's where the conflict begins. :) Fortunately, my husband respects some of my decisions even if I turn out to be wrong. I guess he wants me to learn from my mistakes and make me realize that my Mother is right. :)

Yes, there still are women who are like that. I am saying this on observation on my sister.

it's so archaic, right? in most conservative places, the women still have to follow and obey the leading of the husband since the husband is considered the head of the family but there are some matriarchal societies where the women have the final say in things. i think however, married couples should see themselves as equals wherein the husband listens to what his wife says and considers her feelings and welfare really carefully and the wife supports the husband in all of his endeavors based also on her own convictions.
