Virgin Coconut Oil does not work for me

I was amused by advertisements on the use of virgin coconut oil for detoxification and its health benefits so I tried it for a few days. Though it took me almost 15 minutes to gulp 1 tablespoon if it, I had a very good bowel movement on the first day. Terrible taste! My stomach felt well vacated and lighter for the first time, without having diarrhea. On the second dosage, I was still ok, feeling a bit awkward. But, on the third and fourth days, I had a terrible head ache right after gulping 1 tablespoon and so I stopped it forever. I related this to my friend. He tried it and we had almost the same results, except that his headaches started on the second day. what is your experience with virgin coconut oil?

Only the bowel movement but then I am actually using it for cooking since I am really avoiding other oils.

I don't really use it like drinking a cough syrup by using it on spoon . But then I really preferred it to use it as oil in food.

I do not have any experience with virgin coconut oil, but in the state of Kerals, India it is a matter of daily diet. The cook, fry and thrive in coconut oil. Detoxification is of course a very difficult way to good health. When you try to detoxify the body looses the toxins it had stored previously. Since the toxins had been in your body for a long time, missing them may have cause an effect similar to the withdrawal symptoms people suffer when they give up smoking or drinking. That may have been the cause of your discomfort. Please do such things under a doctor's supervision. He/She knows the best. Good health to you!

In the philippines, we cook with coconut oil too but the oil is processed through cooking the milk. I don't have a problem using it for cooking. You have a point there about detoxification. Thanks for responding.

I have never tried this, but by the sound of it, I don't think I want to either! I think you did the right thing when you stopped taking it! It wasn't doing you any good, it seems...

Yes, the mere thought of drinking oil makes me feel nauseated. Maybe, that too added to the headaches I experienced. Thanks for responding.

I don't have any experience with virgin coconut oils but in your case, i think you need to make your own virgin coconut oil by cold processing it. You can find some valuable information in the internet if you want about how to cold process coconuts into a virgin coconut oil. Take care my friend..

I would really like to do that, but only when I will be able to make use of it. Thanks for responding.
