I Have the Most Cowardly Cats!

A Pair of Sleeping Scaredy Cats! - A picture of my girls from a couple of years ago.

Our next door neighbours just got a seven week old kitten, so essentially he's just an incredibly cute ball of fluff with a round little tummy and a pitiful squeak. My cats are more than four years old now and I tried introducing them separately to little "Charlie". I held him firm so that they could have a little sniff and become accustomed to him, but both of them, after cautiously edging in, fled like their tails were on fire at the slightest sign of movement from him! He's smaller than their heads and yet still they panicked, ran and hid from him! He wasn't even phased, he just started investigating the food bowl they'd left behind! It was so funny, but I couldn't help but be a touch ashamed of my girls! They weren't even predatory, and they've caught mice before that weren't much smaller! They were just plain terrified. They hid upstairs until he'd gone again. Cowards!

Yes, cat's a funny creatures. We had two cats and introduced them to a small kitten belonging to a neighbour and they ran away.. It was really funny to experience! _Derek

You had the same thing! Shameful behaviour on their part!

Until most of mine got used to the constant influx of new cats, they did that. Not Rygel, but he came in with a goodly number of other cats and he's smart. Oliver takes one look at a new person - not a cat - and high tails it until things get quiet...

They are quite timid cats. They were rescued kittens, so I don't know what their lives were like before we got them. They are very spoiled now!

Kittens can be little terrors. They get really frisky and will pounce on another cat, no matter their size. I've watched my cats get attacked by the new kitten in the house. They will usually growl and spit but I don't blame your girls for running away. Those little balls of fur can be quite vicious! LOL

They especially seem to like attacking toes too! And drawstrings and... anything else that they see!

Well Voodoo is nearly five and we still see her twang past in a blur of fuzz! Or hear bangs and thumps through the ceiling. Kitty gymnastics. Her sister calmed right down, but unfortunately she gets chased whether she likes it or not! Luckily Voodoo generally knows no biting or scratching. She still kneads though and that can be *ouch*!

*GROAN* And it lasts for the first two years of their lives! At least they usually calm down after turning two...that's when they are "officially" adults. My Misty is two this year but Chester is still one and loves to drive me nuts running the Indy 500 back and forth down my hallway...and at the worst time - when I'm trying to sleep!!! Of course, when he reaches my bedroom, he'll jump up onto me, claws and all! OUCHIES!!! I will be so glad when he settles down!
