These days writers and journalists just flip up their laptop and type in their thoughts at the instance... is this act of typing still called "writing"... where you don't actually write with a pen and paper? Do we now Type a model? Do we publish on desk tops? What do you think?

No I think that still established writers and most of the writers that I know always write their drafts in a piece of paper and then they try to type it on the computer because they think that proof reading it and reviewing their writing work is easier this way.So I think there still people that write on paper or should we say the old way.

Yes. It is evident in our daily living. We may not be aware of it but we still write. Leaving notes posted on our refrigerator or ven just placing them on top of the table are forms or writing to express our thoughts. Vandals on the walls are also examples of it.

I actually prefer to write with pen and paper, but I am also finding that if I am going to finish anything, I might as well do it on the computer, saves that second step of typing it. I'm currently finishing a Royal Pains fan story, and yes, it on the computer. I get my spelling checked as I go and if I need to do any research, I can just flip over to my internet browser and look it up... My first computer written story was The Cat From U.N.C.L.E. and while I had initially started it on paper I did 90% of it on the computer, this would've been sometime in the late 1980's or early 1990's. Sympathy From a Devil was my second story, non-fanish, in my original universe. The Royal Pains is a crossover with my original universe and Royal Pains. I haven't decided on a name yet...

I guess it just depends on the personal preference of the individual. I'm sure there are some people that still write with a pen and pencil. I just think most of the world does it with a computer. We have to transmit all our writings online anyway. Might as well cut out the middle man and do it all on the laptop.

I have known writers that still write on papers. One particular writer said he is still living in a jurrasic era when it comes to writing. The use of pen and papers makes him more effective as a writer. He hates the sound of the keyboards and it does destructs his momentum. It is easier for him to put notes on his unedited work. Wherein, for him, it is always difficult to erase and go back to insert the notes in the lines when he is using the pc. It is a messy thing. For editing and saving and printing purposes he use the computer.:)

I would still consider it writing. A writer is still putting his/her thoughts on paper and to me that's the definition of writing. To me it really doesn't matter if one uses a pen or a keyboard. Besides writers save paper and help the enviornment. The only bad part is that soon people will lose their penmanship.

I type more than I write, but I do still write with actual pen and paper sometimes. I have notebooks filled with half finished stories.

I only write notes, but I also occasionally take notes electronically as well, mainly because when I take notes quickly I can't read my writing! I need to take lessons again. I tried learning Gregg shorthand, but I am finding it difficult without a teacher.

It's been such a long time that I cannot actually remember the time when I wrote something with a pen! I guess it's a common thing for everyone to use their laptops these days in order to record or write anything. I do enjoy the writing process but only when it comes to typing words on my computer! For one thing it's fast and very convenient. I like to write in a private journal from time to time! I record my thoughts and feelings and it's a great form of release I guess! I keep this journal on my computer and it's just so easy to access and store! I'm not sure that I will ever resort to using a pen again, those days have long gone in my book I guess! There are some people in this world that pay a fortune on a pen just because it looks nice! Well, this is their decision and perhaps they still enjoy the process of writing with a pen or biro. Yes, those days are definitely over for me! Andrew

I love writing. That is why I always carry a notebook around. When I'm not busy, I doodle, list down things, make notes, etc. (The other reason I still write, is because I love looking at my handwriting)
