What methods do you use to separate legit sites from the scams?

We all have our own barometer when it comes to judging what sites are legit and what sites are most likely scams. What are some of the methods or means you use to find and confirm the more legitimate opportunities?

I check on earnmoneyspace forum and mylot for a site if it is legit or not 9 out of 10 times I get correct information. I am now joining under users who have earnred more on the site by seeing their dynamic banners which includes stats of the users.

If I was looking for one I would be googling the how people see it. Read reviews, watch youtube, read blogs about them. That's what I would do.
