I know Dal Earnhardt Jr. has had some success as a driver but I have to wonder, he had success. He's popular in part because of his father. He started out great but lately I have to really wonder. He moved to Hendrick which is a great team. They put together great cars but Dale Jr. is fourth best in terms of performance for their drivers. Before he could argue that the team or cars weren't good. That excuse seems gone now. How would he really do wih a bad team. Kyle Petty had the unfortunate task of being Richard Petty's son and he never lived up to the performance of his father. Dale Jr. may be heading the same way. What do you think?

Junior was a great driver at the beginning of his career, but I don't think he's really putting much effort in the sport as he was probably 10 years ago when his father was here. At the beginning, he needed to be fast to secure sponsors, now that his father is gone, it's just his marketing abilities that brings him sponsors, and a driver in the great Hendrick team.
He still can drive a racecar, but for me he will never be a Sprint Cup champion.

Right now, he's getting one of the best cars week to week but he still doesn't win. He seems to blame it on his crew chief. What would he do with a lousy car?

Personally I have been saying this for a while now myself. Personally he will NEVER be his father or compare to him and I think personally is hurting his name by not really being able to do much anymore. I guess for me, if I were in his shoes, especially since he cannot compete with the Big boys out there I would consider retiring and move onto something else. Personally I don't think a person can live off of daddy's footsteps forever.
