What have you done to help conserve the oceans?

While having lunch I watched the noontime news. There was a feature on some divers including some newscasters who had a clean-up dive mainly to gather unwanted garbage, non biodegradable materials which were thrown into the sea and carried by the currents in the coral areas. They were able to gather sacks of plastic bags and there was even a footage on how the plastic bags were stuck in the corals. I have seen the beauty of our underwater "wonders" and I can't help being amazed every time I see colorful corals and different colorful fishes. It is really breathtaking. And it is really sad to see dead corals. I think not all of us can go diving just to clean the ocean. Each of us can contribute in preserving our ocean. Each one of us must show some concern in our own simple ways. Are you environment-friendly or are you one of the destroyers?

when we went to vacation and ride on a ship i never throw my garbage in the ocean coz those waste might be consume by living things in the ocean and it cause the red tide and pollutants in the water.

The only contribution I've made is to not swim in the ocean. I haven't visited the beach for a long time now. I've watched or read somewhere that talks about how boats and people swimming in the ocean actually distracts the habitat.

Thank you for the response ip5217...I think you have a point there. The noise from boats and the oil spills brought about by the use of boats and the improper disposal of garbage can truly affect oceans. We can contribute in our small simple ways.
