Hello all,
I'm wondering whom of you have written a book? Or are writing one right now? I'm starting on a novel and I'd like to exchange ideas and stuff: how do you go about writing? What techniques do you use and where do you write?
Happy writing!

A published book, no. But, I'm kind of proud to say that back when I was a teenager, I actually managed to write a 130 some page book (I unfortunately lost it in a fire some years later, so I forget the exact length). It wasn't to get published and probably would have needed massive work to come close. But, I just wanted to be able to say I could do it. And my techniques with that book were a lot more organized than they are now. Probably why I haven't been able to finish anything since. I knew generally what I wanted to happen in each chapter and had a rough outline of each one before I started. Not a really professional one. Just like a one page summary that I expanded when I actually started to write. Now, my technique is more, get vague idea, jump on computer or open notebook and wing it. Which for me, doesn't work as a bunch of unfinished stories can attest.

Writing has been my favorite hobby since my high school years, and is still is. I have not written any books, and I don't plan to do that till now. I write articles, short stories, reviews, commentaries , and so on. These days, I like writing about things related to doing business internationally. That, in fact, is my line of work too.

I haven't written a book yet but it's in the back of head to write some one of these days. I used to write poems and such, but I guess I got caught up with the intricacies of life that I have put them in the back burner.
As for my writing technique, I really don't have one that is unique. I just write ideas as they come and I put them together into a meaningful whole as I go along with whatever it is I intend to accomplish. I prefer to write at night, but I can managed doing it at various times of the day for as long as I have the opportunity to do so. The only requirement I think that I need really is total absorption to what I'm doing and yes some degree of silence. Perhaps I could write a book about what's going on in my head right now while answering your post. lol I just have this tendency of getting so much traffic in my brain when it's stimulated to think! ;)
