Recently my daughter has had several bad ear infections. Also, since she was little I have noticed her not being able to hear well. So I took her to an ENT. They are sending her for more testing today but it seems as if she has very little hearing in her left ear. They said it could be pressure in the tubes or a nerve problem. So today she is going to get another hearing test and something to test the nerves and pressure in the tubes. Has anyone else had problems like this with their child. She will be 5 on Thursday. I am petrified of her having to go through surgery.

We are back from the hearing test now. Everything looked fine. I guess the original test came back bad due to the recent infection. I am just glad the doctor had good news for us.

I was very lucky with both of my children because neither one of them had recurrent ear infections. However, my best friend's son had recurrent ear infections in the first couple years of his life. They only realized that it was causing hearing problems with him when his speech wasn't developing as rapidly as it should. They had tubes put into his ears and it wasn't long after that he caught up speech wise with his peers.
