Have you ever thought what is the first thing you do when you open your eyes

when you wake up in the morning? For myself, as a creature of habit, once I open my eyes, I immediately shut them again for some additional shut eyes before trotting off to the washroom and to brush my teeth. Or are you one of those who will jump out of bed and rise with the sun? Or like a cat who will stretch and stretch itself before slinking off to the bathroom? Do share with us your daily morning routine especially if it rather interesting.

i have a very bad habit of sleeping overtime.. so the 1st thing i usually do is actually check the time and determined how many hours i've slept.. then moan and curse about it if i overslept and if not get up and thinking what m i gonna do now that i woke up so early :-)..

hi curly, haha, I am quite guilty of it myself. I have been grossly late and have been out of the house barely 15-20 minutes after I have woken up. Believe me, it is possible.

Once I opened my eyes, the first thing I did was take my phone and looked at the clock. After that I went to the bathroom to urinate, wash face and brush my teeth. Every morning I always do the same thing.

hi indahfth, we are all creatures of habit. Hmmm, must think of a day when you have done it differently. Like rushing to help a family member in need or addressing an electrical outage early in the morning.

After all the habits that I do in the morning, I was then busy with the housework. and it's always been my routine to do. Almost nothing is different every day.

I am an early riser, around 3 am. The moment I open my eyes, I sit up by the bedside and my feet automatically gropes for my slippers. Then I take a few seconds to utter morning prayers of thanks and offering. Then I rush to the bathroom two meters away to pee, gurgle, and wash my face awake.

yupz eileen, almost robotic daily. Cheers.

I do just the same thing. My alarm rings and without opening my eyes I hit the snooze button and make myself comfortable again. When I do eventually open my eyes I guess I look to the floor to find my slippers to make sure I don't stand on any bugs or anything while I work my way through to the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea!

haha - so you don't sorta leap out of bed but take it slow. I guess we are so attuned to certain set of actions that it becomes the standard operating procedure for waking up.

The very first thing I do upon waking up is to keep the alarm quiet. After that, like u, I will shut my eyes for a few seconds before trying to keep them open. If I don't do that, I will definitely doze back to sleep again. I'm not someone to do stretching thus I will be out of bed the moment I felt fresh. If I'm really tired and wanted more sleep, I will force myself to wake up, take a really cold shower to freshen myself. Waking up is the difficult part but once we manage to do that, it will be trying to keep ourself awake. It's a cycle.

hi Sanitary, indeed so. It is difficult to struggle to work especially if you are anticipating a 'bad' day.

hi carpediem first off I get my glasses out of their nice new red plush case, then I take my daily multivitamin with antioxidents and lutein for my eyes, then my calcium. then next I do take my blood sugar test. then lock my drawer so that none of the residents can get into my cache of over the counter thing. nOw I dress, and apply makeup and brush my hair. smile at my reflection then go down stairs to the dining room for breakfast. Its only seven oclock when I get do wn there and I am not a happy camper as I am not a morning p erson at all.,

The first thing I do is to go to the bathroom and wash everything then make coffee. Right after prepare myself to work. That is my morning routine.

hi mods, guess so far your routine has not been upset before. For example, addressing an electrical outage early in the morning would disrupt one's routine greatly.

Hi carpediem17, I know what I do every morning, without fail, when I open my eyes, I say verbally "thank you God." It is an important part of my day to know that I didn't have to wakeup this morning, because somebody somewhere didn't. I appreciate another day on earth. After I up for a few minutes taking care of a few personal needs, I get on my knees, and pray for forgiveness of my sins, guidance, wisdom, protection for me, my family, and my country, the United States. Boring, I know. But you asked, and that is the truth. An early morning riser, I am. 5:30 a.m., rain or shine, weekday or weekend, that is the set time on my biological clock. I enjoy waking up that early, before the world starts stirring. My mind is renewed and I can set my goals, for the day, in place without noisy interruptions. My routine is probably not interesting, but it is necessary in my life.

hi Angelgirl, I believe your routine sets a very good start to the day as you are appreciative and thankful for what you have and knowing that there is an Omnipotent whom you can rely on. Your soul is suitably nourished too. Keep it up.

I would switch off my alarm and continue to sleep somemore LOL. Luckily I have the ability to wake up again after 10 mins without the alarm. Actually it's good if we give ourselves sometime to wake up slowly and not rush off with the day's activities. It gets our body prepared and fully awaken.

hi bmp - i see you are not alarmed by the alarm. Yup, I really hate to jump out of bed too quickly coz it sorta dictates the day's pace - that is, a mad rush.

when i wake up in the morning, i usually look at my almost 2 year old son beside me then the clock. then gets up to make sure that my son's things for school are all ready. then to the washroom, then preparing my sons uniform and breakfast. as soon as he awakes, got to bath him, brush his teeth then change into his uniform. after breakfast, off to school...

hi flauee - guess that is a reflex action honed over the years. It will be quite different when your son is older and perhaps I should pose this question again, haha.

hi Tung, seems like you are very much a clock watcher. Live life to the full if not the fullest. Not every day is so dreary is it?

Hmmmm....It's a habit in my part that the first thing to do when I open my eyes is to THANK GOD for giving me another day to experience what really LIFE is. Thanking HIM is always FIRST in my to-do-list and what follows are those daily tasks of mine. hihi.. :)

As soon as my two babies open I have to jump out of bed regardless of how early it is. I feel if I sleep in the entire day is lost. My frame of thought is that after noon time my whole day is gone.

I'd rather say its a mix of all that you mentioned. It depends on the situation of the day. For example, if its a weekend I'd shut my eyes again, sleep for some more time and finally stretch myself before getting outta bed. But on the days when I've to get up and get going (on a tight schedule and am late already), I'd jump outta bed n run :)

hi sugnendra, yup, the irony is sometimes on weekends, I wake up quite early and unnecessarily so. But once one wakes up, one quickly settles down to a routine and am ready for work very soon.
