I havent; had my experience in using this. Though I was able to see how it's been used but is it really effective - like an alternative for a spray insecticide? Hope you can share your experience, guys. =)

Katols are effective only up to the area it reaches. We use that when we were in the province. There are other brands though. One is Baygon. Baygon katol has two variants, the regular and the lavander. Baygon lavander is what we use when we're outdoors. The smell is not so irritating. Inside the house, we use the electronic ones with the pads. Please remember though that both mosquito repellants should be used in well ventilated areas. There are other things you can use also. Blattanex is a no smell spray but still has a re-entry period of 30 minutes. Off lotion when you're outdoors. Citronella candles for both indoors and outdoors. You can also go natural and plant anti mosquito plants around your house or in pots. Some of these plants are rosemary, citronella grass, neem tree, lavander, etc.

I think it's effective because we sometimes used it before, and true enough after lighting one, fewer mosquitos would bug us. But, we had to go through inhaling the unpleasant fumes from the katol!

Yes, it does have its limitations and the annoying smell. The irony of a cheap mosquito repellant.

It is only as effective as the amount of space the smoke reaches. Beyond that zone, those pesky mosquitos still manage to thrive. Katol don't actually kill them. It just drives them away. What I use at home is this electric katol or something. There's this rectangular chip that is inserted into a device and you plug it and it emits a certain smell all over the room that drives the mosquitoes away. What's good about it is that it isn't as irritating to the nose as the regular katol. You don't even know it's there.

Hi, TA. My cousin also suggested that I should buy that product from Baygon. Is it affordable? I am not familiar with it. I have to check maybe next week if I have the time. Sprays really kills me (the smell that is) so I am really looking for an alternative. Somehow, katol is the easiest I can get since it's just in the sari-sari stores. Thanks for the tip. It's a big help.

I think I bought it at a price of not more than 300. Not sure if I remember it right. I think it's expensive on the first purchase because you needed to buy the device. Afterwards, you'd only be buying the chips. It's really worth it. One chip can go for at least 2 nights if you don't plug it at daytime.

That product has been around ever since i can remember which goes to show that it's really effective. The only thing i don't like about it is the smell lingers. It sticks to your clothes, so if you use this product and you go to work you have to make sure that your clothes are safety tucked in closets otherwise everyone will know that your using mosquitokiller.

Hi, ybong. Yep, that's what concerns me also because I have a curtains here and just upstairs are my clothes which are hanged that aren't dry yet. I know using this is a classic and it's still around. Thanks for reminding me that. =)

Folks in the province still use, actually i use it on occasions but i have to limit the use since it's not good for the lungs but nothing beats the ever trusted mosquito net.

Hi! Lion-Tiger Katol i think is obsolete already. You know it imits smoke that is harmful to the health especially, if there are children in the house. There are various kinds of mosquito repellant nowadays in the supermarkets that are safe for use such as, the baygon electric mosquito repeller where in you just have it plugged to an electrical outlet and mosquitoes are gone already. There is no smell and safe for kids and even babies. I have tried that before but currently i am using the mosquitoe swatter. it resembles e tennis racket with a low voltage electricity. You just sway it around when you feel there'a mosquitoes inside the house and you could hear it ticks when it hits the mosquitoes. We have fun using it, sometimes it frightens us too (the ticking sound).

LOL. Thanks for the tip, triple jazz. Lion tiger katol is still around here in my place actually. Most people who can't afford to get a spray or same like the racquet you used often use this as an alternative. Just like ybong said, the smoke is both what we fear because it could stick in your clothes and anywhere (things, etc). I'll try to look for that but on my next months budget. Thanks again for the tip. You,too Mechanical. Have a great day guys. =)

We use traditional style like fogging or making smokes through burning dried leaves, we don't use katol since that irritates me.

I remember when I was little, my mom would always use this type of mosquito repellant. It's very effective minus the annoying smell. I guess it's more effective than insecticide spray in the sense that it's active while you're sleeping or while you're using it. Insecticides on the other hand only kills the mosquitos at the time of "spray".

mosquito killer - katol with the max
Hello Totally Pretty, I used katol when i still have few money on my pocket. but it wasn't tiger, i used baygon. it was a lot but it helped me out though but not all the time since the mosquitos doesn't have around in one place. i used most of the time at the back yard where i do manual laundry. but since it's just too much of a smell, i decided to use my electric fan instead with the help of extension cord.
