many people are turning to dogs after there children have moved out, and this is for a few good reasons. what do some of you think those reasons are?

I don't think people replace their grown-up children with dogs. I like to think they just love dogs, and when their children move out, they have time and resources to care for a dog. Many people love dogs but they can't afford the expenses to own a dog while they have children around.

The answer can be summed up in 2 words - unconditional love.
Dogs love you no matter who you are or what you do. They do not care if you are rich or poor. They do not care if you are young or old. They do not care how you dress or how much you weigh. They are there when you are sad and they only want to make you happy. They are not going to grow up and leave you. Or, leave you for someone else. They do not manipulate you to try to get you to buy them things. They love you - period, no conditions.
