On the previous year, my parents give my cellphone number to direct TV to sign up their promotional service. After the contract was over, and direct TV start to overcharge us again, my parents cancel the satellite TV service with Direct TV. Right now, from time to time, there is 1-800 number keep on ringing on my cell phone. It was the direct TV sales personnel want to talk to me about their new service and promotion. I found it really bothering, and in consideration of change phone number. But that will be too much hassle, because I have to call every friend of mine in the contact list to let them know my new cell number. I just hate to give my cell phone to those marketers and service providers.

Not only with service provider, but also with credit card provider either!
I always pay my credit card bill on time, so I think there is no reason for those personels to call me.
The annoying calls also comes from several internet providers in my area. Once they called me and asked, "Have you installed internet service at home," and I answered "Yes." They should put it in their database. But, they keep calling every week!
So, the solution now is to block their number, because those service providers usually have fix number, or at least it will be noticeable if they use extension. I just block them with my blocker application.

I don't like that either. Sometimes I just give them a wrong number.. especially when they ask for your number in a store where you are just trying to buy something. Perhaps, in your situation, you can just answer the call and ask them to take your number off their calling list.
