Flu season is here again and with the abrupt changes in weather, it's important to keep a few of the simple home remedies for flu ready. Here are some home remedies I can share: 1. Increase the intake of fluids like water and fresh fruit juices like apple juice, grape juice, carrot juice, pear juice and cranberry juice. Natural beverages helps ease congestion. 2. Lemon Grass Tea is a good expectorant, made by pounding several stalks of lemon grass and boiling it in a liter of water for about 10 minutes. 3. Take 1 Tbsp. of honey mixed with 1/4 tsp. cinnamon powder to strengthen the immune system. 4. Healthy food like chicken soup and lots of vegetables and fruits. What other home remedies can you share to combat Flu?

Lots of fluids and plenty of rest is the best thing you can do. Everybody else listed a lot of good home remedies so I'll talk about preventing the spread of germs. Here are some tips to prevent spreading germs when you have a sick family member: 1. Proper hand washing goes without saying 2. Sanitize all table tops, counters, telephone receivers, computer keyboards, game paddles, and door knobs (anything that is often handled and shared by family members) with cleaner (Clorex wipes) 3. Keep all tooth brushes in separate containers, not in a cup in the bathroom ~ we don't even put our toothbrushes in the bathroom we keep them in a separate container in out own bedroom 4. Stock up on Kleenex and cold remedies 5. Wash all dishes in hot soapy water 6. Insist that sick individuals bath or shower daily even if they are feverish 7. If the family member who usually does the cooking is sick, have someone else do the cooking. 8. Use of hand sanitizer I hate flu season! :(

It's been shown that a lack of Vitamin D makes one more susceptible to viral infections, so take that in pill form if you're not where you can get it from the sunshine. Get enough sleep and eat a well balanced diet, drink plenty of water to keep your body and your immune system in good condition. If you do get a virus, take echinacea, or echinacea and goldenseal mixture, in the form of either tea or capsules, three times a day. Tea works better if you can get it. Think positive; be happy. Don't worry about it. It's true that our attitude has a lot to do with whether we catch diseases.

I believe garlic and ginger are great for flu remedies, so any remedy you can find that has those ingredients in them would be great. Also lemon juice is said to be very effective. And honey helps if your throat hurts. Other than that, I try to eat more Vitamin C and yogurt during flu season since those things prevent flus.

Not exactly a flu remedy per se, but it can help with some of the symptoms (especially a sore throat) quite a lot: lemon juice with honey. My grandma swears by this stuff, and I can say it really helps indeed! You just have to mix the juice of a lemon (or two, if you want some more flavour) with water and then add 1-2 teaspoons of honey. Drink it warm, and your throat will feel much better the next day. You can substitute the honey for brown sugar, if you want, but in my opinion honey works much better. Another thing that works well for colds and nasty coughing is thyme tea.

Hi, Flu virus is everywhere and easily spread to people if we don't have strong immune system. Like I myself also easily get flu because of the change in weather. Sometimes, due to hot season..the air is dirty and very dusty and it makes my nose feel itchy, then my flu started to visit me again. I do try some home remedy and it shows an improvement on me : 1. Consume more vitamin C to boost the immune system. 2. drink plenty of water at least 8 cups a day. 3. Get a warm shower. 4. drink 'special tea' consist of : ginger, honey and lemon juice. Grated the ginger, add lemon juice and honey into the thermol pot, pour in hot water.Cover it up and let it sit for 25 minutes. Strain the tea and drink while warm. Takecare...
