I've been a doctor all my life... have been connected in a local hospital where I work 36hrs straight for a small meager income..in my 6 years of service, I found the business of saving lives enjoyable and exciting... I would remember that I would sleep in exhaustion when I go home... 7 years ago, We opened a pharmacy in one of the depressed coastal areas of the city... I took it as a social obligation to see patients in the area for free because there were no physicians available in the area... I realized then that all my exhaustion is quenched after such an activity... I could not understand how it could possibly relieve a 36 hour stress in just an hour activity with the poor...I did this at least thrice a week and I find fulfillment in what I do... When I learned a living I found Contentment, When I helped others, I found Fulfillment beyond monetary gains. What do you think? Do you think that fulfillment could not be bought? What are your thoughts?

"When I learned a living I found Contentment, When I helped others, I found Fulfillment beyond monetary gains."- Very well said and I agree with you. In my line of work I usually deal with employees who have personal issues. There are times that their personal problems affect their work. As their Supervisor I have to ensure that they abide with our company's policies which include giving disciplinary action like suspension or even termination if needed specially if the problem has something to do with absences or late. However, I don't believe in just simply punishing them. I'm also a human and just like them I have personal problems. However, I don't let these issues affect my work. As their Supervisor I ensure that I get to the root cause of their poor performance and understand the factors affecting their work. I feel contentment whenever I become a catalyst of change in people's lives. That's what I find fulfilling in my job.

I also find fulfillment in helping others. I agree that fulfillment is something that can't be bought by money. Having a generous heart boosts our spirit, it makes us feel grateful for the things that we have for we cannot give what we don't possess. It has always been my dream to do something in order to help the poor. a year ago, I worked as a volunteer teacher to street children. I want to continue doing it but there has been a lot of changes in my life lately. Now, I'm starting to do volunteer work again. I have realized that there is an unexplainable happiness when we are able to share our time, talent and treasure to people who are in great need. By the way, you are so admirable Doc! Keep up the good work. May God bless you a hundredfold. :)

I would agree to that, that fulfillment cannot be bought with an exact amount... There is a saying "Forced kindness deserve no thanks, willingness to serve does not wait until it is ask for" in which gives a fulfillment to the one who help without prior interest of what he/she could gain.

I have always felt contentment, fulfillment and great joy in helping others. I was raised to believe that you should treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. If everyone in the world understood and went by these thoughts I believe everyone would want for nothing. Unfortunately, I know this will never happen. Some people just can't see past the I to the US. I've often been asked why I do the things I do for people when there is nothing in return for me. I tell them I do get something in return, they just can't see it. I get to feel wonderful inside.

May God bless you four kind work. Nowadays the world needs these sort of people. You are correct. the happiness and fulfillment from charity workcan't be replaced by other things. Once I was able to do so. But now?.. The friend of my 10 year old daughter is from a difficult family. My husband cares her as his own daughter. This makes me happy. This can be a good rolle model for my daughter also.

You're a kind-hearted person.God bless you.I always feel happy and fulfilling too after i help someone.Nowadays, people generally lack the feeling that when others are in need and you're there.Just the feeling you're needed. And helping others could get the feeling, through which people obtain spiritual solace. So it's really beyond monetary gains to some degree.

The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart. Thus, I would say that fullfillment is the best feeling one would ever experience. Helping others not because you are obliged but because you love to do so is such a great achievement. To do more for the world than the world does for you is the real essence of success. So I would say congratulations to all the people who were able to help and touch the lives of others. You did a great job!! :)

Of course unless you were forced to do a certain task out of your will then i don't call it fulfilling at all.You get to know this good vibe/feeling especially if there is no monetary exchange or payment for the job or volunteer work you did. This past 3 years every first Sunday of the month I visit a government facilty wherein they house minor children mostly girls age 18 below, these are children who have suffered the cruelty of the society,i wouldnt mention already the crimes they did to these young women but surely it will break your hearts.Part of our task is to preach them the word of life for the month and visit to update and counsel. We would teach them that life is still beautiful despite the bad circumstances they have undertaken , despite the trauma we teach them to love again. This is something i am fulfilling and i promised myself that until i am single i will be there always on the first sunday of the month.

yes i agree with you that helping others is priceless. if you can help others please do so and remember that you are blessed than the unfortunate ones who sleep in the street and not eating three times a day. be thankful that you are the one helping and not the one who needs help. two thumbs up for u for helping others

I really find a fulfillment in helping others. My one of the relative went to her native place due to some emergency and I looked after her kid for a weak and he stayed with us.Second time also when such a case happened I looked after her kid and helped in the best possible way I could. My hubby also helps his friends and collagues in the office in the best possible way he could.I love helping others because in our lives we all are so busy that we do not get a chance to do a good deed so by helping someone atleast we can do some good deed.

The most important things in life are those that cannot be bought by MONEY. When I help others, I find fulfillment in such doing because I believe that we, humans, walk this earth to give love to each other. When someone needs a helping hand,,, then go! Give him what you can do naglecting the thought of receiving something in return because I believe that , one good turn deserves a hundred folds of blessings greater than what you've expected... !!! hihi.. :)
