I am the second child and the oldest among the girls. I have this problems regarding my parents smoking habits. They are both chain smokers. They can finish 2 packs of cigarrettes a day. Considering that I contributed much of the things we need, and provided them with it i am always the one who is consistently arguing with them with their smoking habits. There is one time that my father did not talk to me after that smoking arguments. I pointed out their health status specially now that he just finish his 1 year medication for tubercolusis and my mother breathing at night sounds not good. Until i came to the point that i told them if they stop smoking we could have save the money they spend on cigarrettes. It could have been used for something more important. We always have this issue whenever i'm at home. Mother would just tell me that since she was a 5 year old child here grandparents let her smoke and she is still alive until now. What you do to make them stop smoking?

my dad had been a chain smoker before i had him convinced to stop smoking when he saw me coughing to much and almost cannot breathe. Though this is not really just because of his smoking, i really have this allergy to smoke and dust and it makes me hard to breathe. i told him that 2nd hand smoke is worse than first hand, so he makes the environment more dangerous for us to live. they love you so they wouldn't want to harm you.

I guess i was a fortunate child. neither one of my parents had a smoking habit of any kind. I am not a smoker myself. I have one sibling and my late husband that were big smokers in my family. You can do everything in your power to make this drop this habit. You can tell them all the tales of health risks that you can think of. You can tell them how much their life means to you and they should stop smoking. In the end, the choice is up to them. they have to want it for themselves as much as you do.

My parents are the same way. They have been smoking as long as I can remember. I wish that they would stop smoking. However, my mother said that she who she is and I can't say anything to my father. I have realized that they are their own person.
