Dance is movement set to music or rhythm. It develops coordination, balance, control and grace. It also teaches the child timing and directions-up,down,left, right, etc.
Using improvised "instruments" let him/her dance or move his/her body to rhythm he/she produces. Then, let him/her dance to music from the radio or record/tape player or the piano if you can play one. Teach him/her to dance in time with the music and with varying steps. It is best to have other children to dance with him.
Create as many opportunities as possible for your child to play, dance and sing.
HAPPY MY LOTTING=)

You are very right here. Not only is dancing good for one's coordination, it is also very good because it is a form of exercise. With people living the more sedentary lives that we live right now, it is important to give children every opportunity that we can to move. Dance is a great for of exercise and with the stereo systems that many people have in their homes today, it is something that is accessible to most people as well.
