so i have been having some problems with my desktop lately. it has been running slow and having problems logging into yahoo and all for about 5 days now. i was told it would just be best to rebuild the hard drive. so that is what i'm doing today. i'm not sure what caused it all. the i only had like 3 or 4 things downloaded on the computer. so i will be on the laptop while doing this. the last thing i downloaded on it was the cash gopher thing. it has a lot of pop ups with it, but i don't really think that was the problem. does anybody have any ideas?

Never heard of the term "rebuild", maybe you're reffering as format the hard disk and reinstall Windows? Maybe CashGopher is the source of the problem, have you tried to shut it down for a while? On slow computers, it may eat a considerable portion of memory and bandwidth to perform its spionaje. But of course, many other programs can do this as well.

yeah, i guess that's what i was talking about there. it wasn't the cashgopher. i came to find out that something had happened to my web browser i had. i had to unistall it and reinstall it again. then everything was fine again.

Try find what's running in the background. Use task manager, or a software like What's running Net. Maybe also do a few scans with MSE, Avast, Malwarebytes, Spybot, etc.
