These days lot of people like to buy branded stuff- be it shoes, travel items, clothes or anything for that matter. Most of these branded items come with a huge price tag . No doubt that the quality is good in most cases but the difference in price is far too much while compared to a local make.
Do you all buy branded stuff or prefer local ones? In my case I do buy certain items like shoes - my children prefer to buy sports shoes from nike or reebok saying that it is much more comfortable and lasts much longer. I too use a Reebok walking shoes and have had it for almost 4 years now. Other than that suitcases and travel bags too are better when you go in for a reputed company like VIP , Harrisons or the more expensive Carlton..
what are your views?

I used to live in Asia, and in a culture where branded products where considered more in quality than generic ones. They were more expensive, but they seem to hold their own in terms of durability.
At where I am right now, I've considered generic ones and have found that they are no different from the more expensive, branded things. Thus I choose to save my money and get the not-so-popular brands, but still serves its purpose.

Hi bounce, thank you so much for your response I feel that everywhere now there is a lot of stress on quality. I see that I can buy an excellent ladies top for under 15 dollars here in India. The best part was when one of my relatives brought me a beautiful cotton top from London, and she said it had cost her 25 pounds which to me seemed expensive.Later I happened to see the label and it was made in India and available here for less than half the price lol...all the best and happy mylotting

I never buy branded stuff. While branded stuff may be good quality depending on the item, it is certainly not worth the price! I do have some brand names, but I bought them all at second hand shops. For example, I have a Bebe jacket that had the price tag still on it for $89.99, but I actually bought it for $4.00 at Goodwill. I have a pair of Aeropostle (is that spelled right?) cargos that were over thirty dollars at the store that I bought for $2.00 at Goodwill, the price tag intact, never worn.
I grew up with a family who had money to buy whatever brands they wanted. My mom bought brand name foods, clothing, house supplies, etc., and I grew up with that. My husband and I live frugally, however, and have found that off brands or even the type of brands you get at dollar stores that you've never heard of can be way better than brand names. For example...we used Glad trash bags for our kitchen and game room trash cans, and they'd always rip at the seams. They were awful bags. Then we bought an off brand at the dollar store, the same amount of bags for $1.00 (the brand was Titan, I believe?), and they were the best trash bags I'd ever used.
I will admit that a lot of brand names are very good quality. My issue is that you can find that same quality or BETTER at a much cheaper price. You can't brag about having a brand name, of course, but you CAN brag about having a better product and keeping more money in your wallet.

dear kiran,
i've got both branded stuff and the locally made. i find some locally made items also with quality only they are not so popular, and they cost much lower.]
i have in my mind, it is how you carry the stuff, not the stuff carrying you. do you think i am right?

Hi Kiran! I wouldn't go for branded stuff that often until and unless the situation demands me to go for them except shoes and footwear.Branded ones come with great lasting stuff so do their cost.It doesn't make any sense to spend thousands of bucks on something(especially clothes) which cannot be used beyond six months(outdated fashion is the most common excuse).great day.

hi kiran!
the price should go along with the quality. i don't mind buy branded stuff if there are good in quality aka value for money.i think we should spend wisely so we will not wasting the time and many consumed at the end of the day if the stuff we thought good turn out to be the other way round.

Hi Hanum, no doubt about that , we can buy only what we can afford right? I have had a couple of experiences like that, one of them I shared earlier ...It is always better to look around before making a purchase - all the best and have a great weekend

Hello everyone. So I must say that I prefer to buy branded only wearing, clothes and shoes. But I think if other brands lower their prices I will go for it. Firstly I was sceptical for buying branded things cause it looks like it will not last longer than usual cheap. But when I buy first I change my mind. Not only it last longer it feel better (dont realy know how to describe it).

I think that branded stuff is better for value than those without in general. Usually there is no problem for its quality though it can be more expensive than one without a famous brand. yet it is still worth it. Good quality stuff lasts longer time. Have a good day, kiran.

No I don't. Unless it's needed like say, for an occasion or what. Otherwise, no use spending money on such unnecessary goods. However I would like to invest in branded watches and maybe buy and keep it as collection.

for me it is better value for money, cause sometimes branded would not be a guarantee to have great product..

...im not really into branded stuffs so i prefer to buy things that is much cheaper but good quality...we can't be assured that a certain product is good just by basing it on the price of the item since there are other factors to consider with regards to pricing...who knows they have many wastage in making the product so they added it on the price of the product to regain the lost profit...so i go for cheaper product but has a good quality, although not really as good as what other branded products can offer but at least they can serve as a good alternatives..

Hi jhyan, It is always like that, every single expenditure including wastage while producing a certain stuff is added on to the price .In branded stuff even the outgoes are added on...Most of us can afford cheaper local stuff for daily use and may be pick up a more expensive item once in a while - all the best and thanks a lot for your response

Hi, kiran
Frankly, I liked to buy local items in a long time, becaues I thought to buy branded items were wasted money. Not only I didn't have enough money to pay for them, but also they weren't necessary to buy. I thought common items were enough for us, we shouldn't cost too much money on branded items. But I would rather choose branded items than ordinary now. Because they are have good quality and be for longer period. What's more, they are have good service.

Without a doubt , the quality of branded stuff is pretty good . It can last much longer than the logal ones . But the price of it is also quite high ,too . As to me , i cant pay for it now . Because i just graduated from college . But I am confident that i can pay for it soon . Though my hard work to improve my family's life quality .

As long as quality isn't sacrificed, I am ok with buying local or non-branded items. I do have a few items that I will spend the extra money on. Toilet paper - I don't buy the cheap stuff, it is rough and thin. It is worth it to me to spend a little more moeny to get something better quality. Also, my running shoes. I usually go with ADIDAS, but occassionally will buy New Balance. For me, my running shoes are all about comfort and brand name recoginition. The third thing I never buy off brand is peanut butter. JIF is the best and I don't eat other brands. They just aren't as good. I told my friend this and when he tried a JIF PB sandwich, he said he was never buying the off brand again. To this day, I always see him eating only JIF.

I don't always buy brand because brand names are so expensive. I try to buy things that I can afford and that aren't that much money. I know a lot of people who all they do is buy brand name items, but they aren't any better than the no-name items.

I like buying branded as long as I can afford it. Sometimes it can be trusted but there are other branded stuff that are not reliable. In terms of clothes I rather prefer the branded one because it has reasonable sizes.

Yes thats true, affordability is a factor even if you like it...In my case I have never had any complaints regarding quality so far, just that they are far too expensive and one cant buy them all the time...thanks a lot for your response , all the best..

No I don't buy branded stuff...I can't afford it, it's too expensive and it seems like we're just paying for the brand name. Especially on clothes, I don't buy it because of it's brand name and because it's the trend in fashion...I buy clothes that suits my personality and will make me feel comfortable. And besides, we should be proud of our own local brands. :)

Hi , That is very true, most of the time you are paying for the name rather than the quality. It is always a wise thing to buy only what you require and what you feel comfortable with, there are local brands too..thanks a lot for your response and have a nice evening

Do not use always branded stuff. Try new and local company's product. Those products also can be nice. To show your patriotism for your country it is important to use local product.

I really buy stuff that I know the quality is good even the price is expensive rather to buy cheap products but sucks on the quality. But I think first before I buy the product if its worth it and I can use it rather than wasting on a money to a product that is expensive but there is no use.

I always buy branded stuff because the quality is better and lasting. Why buy the cheaper brand if it won't last as long? It has a huge price tag but I wait for these items to go on sale :)
